My husband asked why I didn’t cancel my 4:50am yoga class with what I like to refer to as the “Super Bowl of stationery event” tonight​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
I woke up at 3:45.​​​​​​​​
Snow on the roads.​​​​​​​​
Thirteen people canceled.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
But that class is the reason I have an opportunity like this at all.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
103 degree hot Power yoga doesn’t just make you stronger physically, it brings you face to face mentally with the part of you that wants to quit. The shaking legs. The loud breath. The voice in your head saying, this is too much. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Over the last three weeks, this opportunity started exciting. A full body yes as a Manifesting Generator And then things started to get hard.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
An aggressive timeline, Shipments didn’t arrive. Orders showed up wrong. Snowstorms hits. Sickness. My glue gun literally caught on fire in my hands, the die for my grommet machine wore out. 🥴​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
There were many moments I just sat there thinking, why did I say yes to this? Donating $1000s of dollars and over a hundred hours of my time.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
There were Moments where my chest felt tight and my brain wanted to shut down. Moments where I cried, or walked away for a bit…But just like on the mat you breathe. You adjust. You take a break and You come back.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
‘s class trains you to not run when things feel overwhelming. To stay when your mind spirals. To soften even while everything is shaking.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
This project asked for that same part of me.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
The part that gets up at 3:45am.​​​​​​​​
The part that drives through snow.​​​​​​​​
The part that makes the 2.5 hour last-minute supply run to guarantee everything will be here on time because quitting isn’t an option.​​​​​​​​

Here’s the truth about me, I don’t give up… Even when I desperately want to.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
So, no matter what happens tonight, I’ve already won.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Because I became the woman who feels the fear, the exhaustion, the doubt and stays anyway.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
And that version of me? That growth IS the success.

This month, I’m joining fellow stationer Elisabeth Stucky’s social media challenge to post once a day during February.

Consistency has always been hard for me, my artistic (ADHD) brain tends to equate routine with monotony. But lately I’m realizing structure actually supports me. I’m seeing the benefits of consistent workouts in my health… so why not bring that same steady energy to social media?

So here we go….
What moments or experiences led you to this business?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I don’t share it often because it’s not a huge glamorous a-ha moment when I just knew. It was a bunch of small moments that led me to where I am today.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
In 2008, I was fresh out of college and got a job in the marketing department at a real estate development company, (yes I entered the job market right before the housing crash). Shortly after I was hired, the company started doing lay offs and pay cuts for anyone lucky enough to keep their job. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
I went on Craigslist (old school, I know. I’m actually a dinosaur) and looked for freelance design jobs to make some extra money. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
I found one job in particular that sounded fun, creating wedding invitation templates for a website and receving comission everytime they sold. I was obsessed with the creative freedom and carrying out a theme through various pieces. I created a bunch of different designs, but spoiler alert, the site never came to fruition. At the time, I chalked it up as a colossal fail, BUT one thing I knew, is that I loveeeed the creativity of designing a wedding suite. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
After that, I started creating wedding invitations for all my friends who were getting married (when you hit that age and everyone gets married at the same time - IYKYK). ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
From there, my freelance website started to morph into strictly wedding stationery and I just kept building on it year after year. It has always been alongside another full-time job up until about 3 years ago!

A wedding industry friend who I adore, in full transparency, mentioned she got five rejection emails this week alone.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I don’t think we talk about THAT enough as entrepreneurs.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We celebrate our wins publicly, but we don’t sing it from the rooftops when we get the dreaded “we decided to go another direction email” or when an inquiry simply ghosts you. Sometimes I think people forget there’s a heart on the other side of that inquiry form. A real live human.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s easy to look at our peers and think:
maybe THEY don’t get rejected because they’re so fabulous.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Butttt it happens to the best of us.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Even after 20 years, I am realizing it’s ALL part of the process. I’m still learning not to build a story around the “no”, not to make it mean something about me, my worth, my talent, or my future.

I’ve been working on moving through the rejection quicker, because then I am one step closer to finding my people.
