The 2021-2022 Criminal Justice classes were finally able to have some normalcy this spring! We all enjoyed all of our special guests who took their time to come out and teach us their special law enforcement skills. I was fortunate once again to have two WONDERFUL classes.

It’s been three weeks since I last saw my school “kids”. I sure do miss seeing them! I would have never thought when school ended on March 13, 2020 that it would be the last day in the classroom this school year. There is so much more to teach them and so many more days I wish we could spend together. Although our time in the classroom has ended, there is still more work to do to finish the school year. Keep working hard! I wish each of these students the best and I want to thank each of them for making this year a great year so far! Here is a look back on some of the memories made this year. ❤️❤️

Lots of fun things happening in the criminal justice program in the last few weeks! From SkillsUSA district competition to guest speakers such as the VA State Police Recruiter and the ABC Agent, to learning how to do the metal detector to searching and handcuffing with the assistance of Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Deputy Farley and finally to the DUI goggles. The students are preparing for a great career in law enforcement!

Another busy day in the criminal justice class with three guest speakers as we continue our exploration of law enforcement careers. Alex Lee Sr with the Federal Bureau of Prisons and Deputy Jerry Riggins and his K9 (Captain Marvel) sharing their careers and then ending the morning with Deputy Kaleb Farley with Pittsylvania County Sheriffs Office teaching handcuffing and searching procedures.

Thank you Trooper Draper of the Virginia State Police for educating us on how to work a traffic accident and in the use of radar today. It was so much fun!

A huge thank you to Conservation Officer Dotterer of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries for coming into the Criminal Justice Class and sharing the laws relating to hunting and fishing as well as the details of your career. It was very informative and we loved seeing all of the “toys” relating to this career!

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE having former students come back to visit and assist in training present students? Thanks Deputy Johnie Dooley, PCTC Criminal Justice class of 2001, ( the first graduating criminal justice class at PCTC). It was so much fun training my students on how to perform DUI tests. And thanks to Kaleb Farley for making it happen!
