The Democracy and Capitalism Teachers Institute at the University of Virginia is proud to host high school teachers from across the nation one week every summer to learn about democracy, capitalism, and the intersection of the two. We provide transportation, lodging, most meals, and a stipend.

Our week-long program for high school social studies teachers takes place from July 12-18, 2026. Itโs free for educators to attend, and we cover the costs of travel, hotel, most meals, and additional expenses. Additionally, we provide educators a stipend for their time. All you have to do is apply, get in, and show up!
And DCTI Alum โ please apply for a Teacher Fellowship! These resource development opportunities are PAID and primarily virtual. Come help us develop our new resource hub this summer!

DemCap Classroom will feature resources on Democracy, Capitalism, and the intersection of the two. It includes introductory materials and videos, lesson plans, case studies, primary sources, and more โ all accessible online for free.
