One in Four is UVa's all-male student group committed to preventing rape and sexual assault. Welcome to One in Four at UVa's page.

Our name, “One in Four” comes from the fact that, at the time of our founding, one in four college women had survived rape or attempted rape since their fourteenth birthday. We are an all-male group that presents to other men on how to help survivors recover from a rape experience and how to take measures to prevent rape and sexual violence in the UVa community. Robbery, sexual assault reported Wednesday night 09/20/2018

We are deeply disturbed by the report of a sexual assault and robbery last night. Our thoughts are with the survivor, and we encourage everyone to go the extra mile to watch out for one another and stay safe.

Robbery, sexual assault reported Wednesday night A female victim reported a robbery and sexual assault Wednesday night, telling the University Police Department she was physically and sexually assaulted and that her wallet was stolen around 9:33 p.m., according to an alert sent to the U.Va. community.

One in Four stands with Christine Blasey Ford. It takes a great deal of courage to tell one’s story, especially when it involves someone as powerful as Brett Kavanaugh. Too often, perpetrators are protected by their peers who extol them as being a “good guy” who would never do such a terrible thing. However, it is important to remember that perpetrators often use their reputation or position of power to cover up their abuse. It is reassuring to see that the Senate Judiciary Committee is willing to listen to Dr. Ford’s testimony. We encourage everyone to believe those brave enough to come forward with their stories.

Great piece from The New York Times on the history of anti-r**e activism on college campuses. We've come a long way, but we still have a lot more work to do.

We stand with our friends at UVa Take Back The Night. Sexual assault continues to be a massively under-reported crime in part because so many survivors are silenced from speaking out about their experience. We encourage all members of our school community to attend the many amazing events the good folks of TBTN have worked so hard to organize this month. Your presence and support can have a huge impact on the journey of survivors in our community. Please check out their page for more information.

CIO Accessibility to Low-Income Students Pledge 11/20/2017

We're proud to announce that we signed the pledge. One in Four understands that when organizations fail to accommodate low-income students, they perpetuate barriers that education seeks to erase. We've pledged to make our organization more accessible to low-income students– Check out the pledge below. Many thanks to UFUSED at U.Va. for starting this important conversation.

CIO Accessibility to Low-Income Students Pledge As Contracted Independent Organizations, we understand that low-income- students face financial barriers at the University of Virginia. Many times when we, as organizations, fail to properly accommodate these students, we can make them feel ostracized, embarrassed, and excluded, perpetuating the ...

In light of the attempted abduction on Wertland Street, we condemn anyone who would so violently attack a fellow student and applaud those who intervened as active bystanders. Their actions prevented further harm from being done. With big celebrations and anonymous costumes, Halloween can present dangerous situations–please stay safe and continue looking out for one another.
