Faith Christian Music Studio Faith Christian Music Studio is dedicated to providing excellence in music education through private and group piano lessons in Waxhaw.

For over 15 years, Brittany Smith has studied classical music all the way through advanced musical literature. In 2008, she graduated from the Certificate of Merit with honors through the Music Teachers Association of California. In her years of study under the MTAC, Brittany also participated in Bach Festival Competitions, a Composition Competition, Baroque Festivals, Honors Recitals, and Certificate of Merit Exams. Her musical education included theory, technique, performance, ear training, sight reading, and music history. After her graduation, she continued her studies in classical music while teaching a few students in California before moving to Tennessee. During her time in Tennessee, Brittany served as a pianist/accompanist in her church for six years – increasing her knowledge of hymnology and improvisation. In 2014, she moved to North Carolina with her family where she is now holding a piano studio in her home where she continues to expand her knowledge in the study of music while teaching students on a weekly basis.

What a wonderful experience at the assisted living facility!

Last month, some of our students performed at a local assisted living facility and shared the joy of music with the residents!

One of the highlights was our multiple piano ensemble, where students played together on multiple pianos at the same time. It was a fun and unique experience that encouraged teamwork, listening, and confidence!

We loved seeing them share their talents and brightening the residents’ days!

✨Senior Spotlight: Abbey Hylton✨

Another amazing senior is graduating! Abigail Hylton has taken piano lessons from FCMS for 5 years. She completed Royal Conservatory’s Level 8 and will be taking a gap year before college and wants to go into elementary education! She has also been teaching as an intern for FCMS for a few years and has done an excellent job!

✨Senior Spotlight: Maddie Clark✨

Maddie Clark has been taking piano lessons from Brittany Smith since 2021 and has completed levels 5, 7, and 8 for the Royal Conservatory Practical Examinations. She will be attending Forman University where she received the full Furman Bell Tower Scholarship and the Furman Music Scholarship. She also received the Chick-fil-A Remarkable Futures Scholarship. In college, she will be studying Business and Psychology but will continue doing piano lessons and choir.

✨Senior Spotlight: Gretchen Maxam✨

Gretchen has been with FCMS for about 7 years and completed level 7 of the Royal Conservatory, but has done extensive work with level 9.

She will be attending Anderson University and received a scholarship for academics and one for music.

She is not exactly what she wants to do after college, but teaching piano is definitely a possibility.

We are so proud of you, Gretchen. Congratulations!
