Congratulations to E.E. Hussey, assistant professor of English, on completing her 2026 spring residency at Goodyear Arts! 💚⛏️

Hussey turned her gallery space into an installation showcasing the creative writing process for her upcoming novel, displaying archival materials, color swatches, early drafts and two of her typewriters. 📚🗺️🌸

The final showcase and artist talk brought together UNC Charlotte faculty, alumni and students, strengthening a long tradition of creative partnership with Goodyear Arts. 🤝

1,081 new CHESS undergraduates crossed the stage at for spring commencement (the most of any college at Charlotte!) plus more than 140 master’s and doctoral degrees earned through the Graduate School. ⛏️

Here’s to the historians, psychologists, political scientists, language lovers, earth caretakers, future community leaders and bold thinkers who make our college shine. 💚🎉

Our UNC Charlotte Film Studies students walked the red carpet at the Independent Picture House for the 13th annual Gold Reel Film Festival, premiering 19 original films and taking home juried awards across screenwriting, directing, cinematography, sound, editing, animation and more. 🌟

Congratulations for the hard work, heart, and artistry of every student who shared their vision on screen. This is what storytelling is all about. 🎥💛

Global conversations on a world stage for Niners in Lima! 🇵🇪 🌎

Twelve students from UNC Charlotte’s Advanced Model United Nations class traveled to Peru to compete at , joining more than 650 delegates from 80+ countries.

Over five days, they debated global issues including AI governance, cybersecurity, green finance and demographic ageism.

🏆 Award highlights:
🏅Emma Wical — Verbal Commendation
🏅Annabelle Hill — Diplomacy Award

Our students also excelled in the Resolution Project Social Venture Challenge:
🥇Global winner: Emma Wical, “Insure and Insulin Alliance”
🥈Semi-finalists: Abdel Hamid Muhyeddin and Aji‑Fatou Sallah, “Voter Bridge Charlotte”

🎉 Wical’s project marks the second year in a row a Charlotte student has earned top honors.

This signature Model UN program, led by Hania al‑Shamat in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration and supported by , prepares students for real‑world diplomacy through international travel, cultural immersion and high‑level policy work. 💚⛏️

Pilar Garces-Conejos Blitvich, has been named UNC Charlotte’s newest Chancellor’s Professor. This prestigious recognition is a lifetime title recognizing exceptional scholarly impact and service. 🎉

Blitvich’s career has been defined by curiosity, rigor and a deep commitment to understanding how conflict shapes human communication. Today, her research on digital aggression, cancel culture and online moral repair is internationally influential, placing her among the top 2% of most-cited scholars worldwide. 🌍

Her teaching in is infused with the same intellectual energy that drives her research, a “life of the mind” as she describes it. Blitvich has co-founded major conferences, leads top-tier journals, mentors students into publication and fosters global collaboration across continents. 🧠
