It’s time to introduce everyone to our community group leaders for this year! We’re gonna get to know Madelyn and William first!

Madelyn:

Hey y’all, my name is Madelyn! I’m currently a junior at UNCC, and I’m studying Business with a concentration in Organizational Management. I’ve been attending M28 since freshman year; I was so excited to be a part of a community that was so passionate and on fire for the Lord! I am super excited to serve as a community group leader for the upcoming semester!

William:

Hi friends! My name is William Scurry. I’m going into my third year at UNC Charlotte in the School of Architecture. I love running, hiking, and music. Leading a community group is such a blessing to me and I can’t wait see everyone back on campus this semester.

We’re gonna kick off getting to know the officers with our marketing officer, Storm Johnston!

Hey guys! My name is Storm Johnston, and I am currently going into my senior year at UNCC. I am your marketing officer this year, and I am SO excited. I’m majoring in Exercise Science and plan on going into a masters program after I graduate. I found M28 through instagram when I transferred here my sophomore year. It was incredible to meet such amazing people that have a strong desire to worship an amazing God. A fun fact about me is that two of my friends and I took a cross country road trip in May to take my friend back to Grand Canyon University. I can’t wait to see new and old faces when we are back on campus together! :)

Two years ago today a tragic event took place on the campus that we love. Riley Howell and Reed Parlier were both killed by an active shooter, and four other students were injured. Today we mourn. We mourn the loss of life. We mourn with the families who continue to feel the pain of losing Riley and Reed. We mourn the brokenness of this world. 

We must mourn, knowing that Jesus also mourns the pain and suffering that we face in this world, but we mourn as those who have hope. Jesus is the resurrection and the life, and because of what he has done on the cross, we mourn as those who know that there is hope beyond death. 

Remember Riley and Reed. Mourn their loss and the pain caused by this evil. Pray for their friends and families. Look to Jesus.
