As a woman, it is essential to know and understand your identity as you traverse through life. Unfortunately, there are societal pressures that can hinder this natural process of self-understanding. In today's world, the right of every girl and woman to identify her own gender has come into question—and its implications are far reaching. From laws preventing access to health care services based on one’s gender identity, to social attitudes that marginalize women who don’t conform with “traditional” views of gender roles—these challenges become even more daunting in certain parts of the world were speaking out against these issues is restricted or discouraged. The reality is that all women have the fundamental human right to know their true personal identities free from discrimination or harassment. That's why I'm writing this blog post: to encourage each and every reader to explore their individual truths when it comes to gender identification--not only for themselves but for future generations too!
