TEST RESULTS ARE IN: Today, the State Board of Education released testing and accountability data for the 2025-2026, and there is good news for Gaston County Schools.

Thank you for taking part in our MRA survey! I am pleased to report back that the results are in, and WCF’s scores went up in every category (Academics, Culture, and Leadership) since the last time this survey was taken in 2024!

Athletics this week include Golf at Pine Island Country Club on Monday, 8/31; Softball @ Bessemer City Middle School on Tuesday, 9/1; Home Football vs. Chavis on Wednesday, 9/2; and Home softball vs. York Chester on Thursday, 9/3. The cost is $7 per person! Students who wish to stay for the games must have a ride pre-arranged.

Hello, W. C. Friday families! My name is Jayden Brackett and I am a student leader at WC Friday.
I want to give you a quick update on what’s happening at W. C. Friday as a Leadership Academy. Our students are learning to take ownership of their learning, set goals, and develop leadership skills every day.
Be sure to check out the monthly Leadership Academy newsletter on Facebook for updates and spotlights from our Leadership Academy!
We also encourage families to:
Ask your student about their Leadership Portfolio, their mission statements and their goals that they will be setting for this school year as we are Beginning with the end in Mind.
Every Thursday night, check and sign your student’s agenda. Look at what they are learning, upcoming assignments, and what they need to work on at home.These help us Put First things First and Prioritize learning.
Next Month our Leadership Habit Focus is Habit 1: Be Proactive!
Being proactive means taking responsibility for your choices and actions, looking for solutions, and doing what needs to be done without waiting for someone else to tell you. It means focusing on what you can control and choosing a positive response when things don't go as planned.
We are also launching our Parent Leadership Spotlight, where we as students can nominate a parent, guardian, or family member who demonstrates Habit 1 at home. Each month, we will spotlight families to celebrate the leadership we see in our community.
