Over the past year alone, we’ve seen major disruptions; from the a nationwide cyber incident, which exposed sensitive data from tens of millions of students and educators, to the recent growing public concern and confusion around school photography and student data privacy.
While very different in nature, both situations have had the same effect: shaking parent confidence and putting school leaders in an increasingly difficult position when it comes to vendor trust, data governance, and reputational risk.
School districts and administrators are being asked hard questions from parents:
Where is my child’s data stored and who has access?
How quickly would we even know if something went wrong?
Are our school vendor partners truly aligned with our duty of care to students and families?
