Burnout isn’t fixed by doing more. It’s fixed by noticing more.

I put together my 3 favorite tiny Ayurvedic experiments straight from the Try This booklet. The ones I come back to again and again when I need to reconnect with my body instead of push through it.

Already have the booklet? You can think of this like a refresher or the perfect thing to send to a friend who isn’t ready for the full guide yet.

No overhaul. No 5am routine. Just three small shifts you can try this week.

Nobody chooses bitter. That might be exactly the problem. 🌿🍂
Last week we brought in sweetness…on our plates and in our lives. This week we’re going somewhere most people avoid entirely.
Welcome to The Six Tastes Series, Episode 2: Bitter.

THE PREMISE
Bitter is the most rejected taste in the Western diet. The one we’ve systematically removed from our food for decades. And in Ayurveda, one of the most powerful medicines we have.
Bitter is connected to air and ether (light, cool, and cleansing). It detoxifies the liver, clears Ama and directly cools and reduces excess Pitta and Kapha. Think of it as your body’s internal housekeeping. The taste that clears what the sweet taste leaves behind. 🌿

THE EXPERIMENT
This week bring more bitter in. Both kinds.
🥬 On your plate:
✦ Dark leafy greens — kale, arugula, dandelion, radicchio
✦ Turmeric — in food, in tea, in golden milk
✦ Fenugreek — seeds or leaves
✦ Dark chocolate — the darker the better
✦ Bitter melon — if you’re feeling adventurous 😄
✦ Coffee — before food, not with it
🌿 In your life:
✦ The conversation you’ve been avoiding
✦ The honest feedback you haven’t given
✦ The truth you’ve been softening
✦ The boundary you haven’t set yet
✦ The habit you know isn’t serving you anymore
Bitter in life is also medicine. It clears what’s been accumulating. It creates space for something cleaner.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
Notice whether your digestion feels lighter. Notice whether your mind feels clearer. Notice what shifts when you stop avoiding the bitter things — on your plate and in your life. Notice whether seven days of honest bitter medicine creates more space than you expected.

Drop a 🌿 if you’re trying this. And tell me — what bitter thing have you been avoiding?
Seven days. See what happens.
Your body is always talking. This is how you start listening.

What if the way your food tastes is actually medicine? 🌿🍂
Welcome to something new — The Six Tastes Series.

In Ayurveda there are six tastes. Each one has a specific effect on your body, your doshas, and how you feel. Over the next six weeks we’re trying them all. One taste at a time. Seven days each.

We’re starting with sweet. And I promise it’s not what you think. 🌿

THE PREMISE
In Ayurveda the sweet taste is connected to the water element (nourishing, grounding, and deeply calming). It balances both Vata and Pitta making it absolutely perfect for right now as summer winds down and the air starts to shift.
And here’s the part that might surprise you… sweet isn’t just about food.

THE EXPERIMENT
This week bring more sweetness in. All of it counts.
On your plate:
✦ Root vegetables — sweet potatoes, carrots, beets
✦ Whole grains — rice, oats, wheat
✦ Warm milk with a touch of honey
✦ Ripe seasonal fruit
✦ Natural sweeteners — honey, maple syrup, dates

In your life:
✦ A slow unhurried morning
✦ A long conversation with someone you love
✦ Music that opens your heart
✦ A moment of genuine rest
✦ Anything that feels genuinely nourishing

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
Notice whether you feel more grounded. Notice whether anxiety and restlessness soften. Notice what your body reaches for when you give it permission to choose sweet. Notice the difference between sweet that nourishes and sweet that numbs.

ONE MORE THING
Sweet is a quality. Not just a flavor. And your body is asking for it right now. 🍂🌿
Drop a 🍂 if you’re trying this. And tell me — what’s your favorite sweet experience that has nothing to do with food?
Seven days. See what happens.
Your body is always talking. This is how you start listening.

It’s the most radical experiment we’ve done all summer requires absolutely nothing. ✨

(This is our final summer experiment. What a journey it’s been!!)

WHAT DID YOU OBSERVE LAST WEEK?
But first… did you grab your copy of the TryThis booklet?Code TRYTHIS14 is still good for a few more days at meganhively.com. 📖🌿

THE PREMISE
We’ve been cooling Pitta all summer… through breath, scent, moonlight, entertainment and nourishment. This week we treat it from the inside out.

In Ayurveda there are five elements. Fire. Water. Earth. Air. And Akasha (ether or space). And space is the antidote to fire. When Pitta has room to breathe it doesn’t burn as hot. When we stop filling every moment, something in the body exhales.

Most of us are so good at filling space we’ve forgotten what it feels like to have any. ✨

THE EXPERIMENT
Every day for seven days, create some spaciousness. What that looks like is entirely up to you:
✦ An unscheduled hour
✦ Ten minutes of sitting with nowhere to be
✦ A walk with no destination
✦ A morning with nothing planned
✦ A meal with nothing after it
No phone. No agenda. No productivity. Just space.
Whatever you can manage. However it feels right. The only rule: when you find that space, don’t fill it.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
Notice what comes up when there’s nothing to do. Notice whether your nervous system resists or relaxes. Notice whether Pitta softens when it finally has room to breathe. Notice what your body says when you stop talking over it.

A LITTLE SOMETHING
This is our final summer experiment. Six episodes. Six weeks. Sux ways to cool the fire.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for trying things. Thank you for noticing. 🌿

Drop a ✨ if you’re trying this. And tell me — what has your favorite summer experiment been?

Seven days. See what happens.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it: try this summer drink. 🕵️‍♀️☺️

THE PREMISE
Pomegranate is one of Ayurveda’s most beloved Pitta-pacifying fruits. It’s cooling, nourishing, and deeply refreshing. Add a splash of lime for extra cooling and a little sweetness to balance and you have an Ayurvedically appropriate drink for your summer!

THE RECIPE
✦ Pure pomegranate juice (with no added sugar)
✦ A generous splash of fresh lime juice
✦ A touch of sweetener if you like: honey, maple syrup, or a little sugar
✦ Serve at room temperature or slightly cool. Not ice cold 😄
✦ Drink it slowly. Taste it. Notice how your body feels.

THE EXPERIMENT
Seven days. One pomegranate-lime drink a day. Notice whether your internal temperature shifts, physically and emotionally. Notice your skin. Notice your digestion. Notice whether that relentless summer heat starts to feel a little more manageable.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
Pomegranate is naturally high in antioxidants and deeply cooling to Pitta inflammation. If you tend toward acid reflux or sensitive digestion, please keep the lime light and skip the sweetener. Listen to your body. That’s literally the whole point. 💪

Drop a 💕 if you’re trying this. And also tell me: how did Pitta-pacifying entertainment go last week?

Seven days. See what happens.

Your body is always talking. This is how you start listening.
