Congratulations to Mrs. Hammond!

Congratulations to our June Teacher of the Month, Keli Hammond! Keli teaches 6th grade math at Charlotte Upper Elementary.

To quote her two nominators, "Keli is an amazing teacher. She loves her students and they love her too. She goes above and beyond to help those students who need extra help and for those who are advanced. She is the definition of a teacher who leaves no child behind. She recently did a whole day dedicated to pi day where the kids had lessons geared all around using pi. She is also our union treasurer and part of our negotiation team helping to bring better equalities to our staff as well. Best part about Keli is she is loyal, a great listener and an AMAZING friend."

"She is an outstanding teacher and mentor. She is always there for her students. She has helped my son and other people outside her classroom not just by being a good math teacher, but teaching them to be a better person. I stand behind my words."

Congratulations again Keli, and thank you for everything you do as an educator in our community!

Ms. Marin and her amazing students spent the year learning the importance of setting goals, working hard, and believing in themselves. To celebrate the end of the school year, they created this heartwarming video sharing their long-term goals and dreams for the future.

Ms. Marin could not be more proud of all that her students have accomplished this year. Watching them grow academically, socially, and personally has been a privilege, and she is excited to see all the incredible things they will achieve in the years ahead.

Huge congratulations are in order for Mrs. D'Huyvetter's Class!!! Today, they embarked on an extraordinary adventure to Crandall Park, bringing their prairie restoration project to life. This initiative, sparked by Mrs. D'Huyvetter's vision since August, has been a testament to the power of collaboration and dedication. From conceptualization to reality, Mrs. D'Huyvetter's tireless efforts to unite community members paved the way for this exciting day.

Through the student's research and studies on ecosystem restoration, the students acquired invaluable knowledge.

This project wouldn't have been possible without the support of Eaton County Parks, MISTEM Network, Eaton RESA, Pheasants Forever, Wildflower Association of Michigan, MSU's Michigan Natural Features Inventory, and the Michigan Wildflower Farm, culminating in the restoration of a 1-acre parcel of native Michigan prairie at Crandall Lake.

Mrs. D'Huyvetter is so grateful for the guidance and assistance throughout this journey and has already begun laying the groundwork for the next phase of this project with her upcoming students.

Yesterday was Field Day! We had so much fun in the sun. Thank you to Mrs. Hillard, the encore team, and all of the parent volunteers! We couldn't do this without you! A special thanks to our CMS students that helped fun stations!
