Sooooo I did a thing, for those not on TikTok and those who want to be able to listen to Bedtime Stories - Grownup Edition while multitasking, I’ve uploaded the first half of Season 1 “What You Owe Me” to YouTube! Subscribe to my channel, binge watch the episodes that are currently available. I’ll have the remainder of the series up tomorrow. And at least 1/4 of each subsequent season each day until it’s caught up.

14 Ways to Become an Incredible Listener

1. Be present and provide your undivided attention.
2. Seek first to understand, then to be understood.
3. Listen attentively and respond appropriately.
4. Minimize or eliminate distractions.
5. Focus your attention and energy with singleness of purpose on what the other person is saying.
6. Quiet your mind and suspend your thoughts to make room in your head to hear what is said—in the moment!
7. Ask questions and demonstrate empathy.
8. Use your body language and nonverbal cues constructively and pay attention to theirs.
9. Follow the rhythm of their speech; hear their tone.
10. Repeat and summarize what you have heard them say to confirm understanding.

Look at this picture and tell me what you see? Your brain is wired to "fill in the blanks" in an effort to make sense of the world and happenings around you. You'll immediately see ONE thing, but what you BELIEVE you see depends on how willing you are to consciously commit to what your brain subconsciously assumes. The more effort you make to overrule the animal instinct to make connections between external stimuli, assume knowledge without facts, and create "stories" based on previous experiences, the easier it will become to control the intrusive thoughts, that create negative emotions, that result in counterproductive behaviors. The conscious choice to just SEE what's there and not accept the version of the picture that your brain creates will allow you to see all THREE things depicted in this image. So what do you see?

This is what equanimity looks like. Are you emotionally consistent whether you win or lose? If not, why? Increasing your emotional margins requires emotional consistency. Work on that!

You were created to LET ISH GO!!!!! Your body already knows what to do! When you consume an “experience”, your body appropriates what it needs and gets rid if the WASTE that you don’t. Not releasing what you no longer need will disrupt and clog up your system! STOP holding on to things that upset your system and do more damage that good! LET THAT ISH GO!!!!
