TOMORROW, On August 5, the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will consider the Recognizing the Role of Direct Support Professionals Act (S. 3211)—an important step toward establishing a standard occupational classification (SOC) for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).
We need your voice to help move this legislation forward.
During the committee’s markup, members will review the bill and vote on whether to advance it. Establishing a dedicated SOC for DSPs would provide greater recognition and visibility for this essential workforce and help strengthen the direct support workforce that people with disabilities rely on every day.
We urge you to contact your members of Congress and ask them to support the Recognizing the Role of Direct Support Professionals Act (S. 3211).
TAKE ACTION NOW! https://ow.ly/mRL250ZvVMG
This legislation has already demonstrated strong bipartisan support. During the last Congress, the bill passed unanimously through the Senate. Now, as it moves through the legislative process again, continued advocacy is critical.
At Melmark, we know firsthand the extraordinary impact DSPs have on the lives of the individuals and families we serve. DSPs provide essential support, build independence, create opportunities, and help individuals with disabilities live meaningful, fulfilling lives.
Your advocacy can help ensure that the vital contributions of DSPs are recognized and that the workforce is strengthened for years to come.
Please take a moment today to contact your members of Congress and urge them to support S. 3211. Every voice matters.
Thank you for standing with our Direct Support Professionals and with people with disabilities. Together, we can make a difference. Please forward this to others, asking them to take action too. The more voices weighing in on this, the better. Thank you for taking time to take action.
