For 60 years, Melmark has believed that every individual deserves access to the education, services, and support they need to thrive.

Recent reporting has highlighted what too many families already know: finding an appropriate educational placement for a child with significant support needs can be incredibly difficult. Families should not have to wonder whether there is a school equipped to meet their child’s needs or whether an appropriate option will be available when their child reaches adulthood.

Melmark continues to advocate for a seamless system of care that recognizes the needs of individuals with profound disabilities across every stage of life.

We believe children with disabilities have the right to a free and appropriate public education, and that as individuals approach age 22, the conversation should not end. It should evolve — toward a range of meaningful options for continued learning, community participation, employment, residential support, and greater independence, based on each individual’s unique needs and goals.

Every individual. Every stage of life. Every opportunity to thrive.
