Three months ago, this was impossible.
The reality of weightlifter’s shoulder put my pull-up progress on hold. Pushing was also not happening—no pushups, no bench presses, no overhead work. I watched as my left shoulder atrophied and thought it might never be the same.
Today, I’ve had to put one of my favorite kinds of exercise, but also my best tool to deal with anxiety and stress—running—on hold. I’m dealing with a lot of foot pain, probably from ramping up my mileage too quickly.
But. Yesterday I bench pressed 25 pound dumbbells for three sets of 10. And I also knocked out 3 sets of 3 pull-ups. I rode the bike for 45 min. Not my favorite form of cardio, but it works. Got my heartrate up and pushed through a few sprint intervals.
All of this to say…injuries almost always feel like they’ll never get better. That’s when we get frustrated and stop the work. But there’s always, always something we can do.
So, my advice is to find the thing you can do. Make a goal for how you want to improve in that area. And then go for it. To quote my favorite squat coach (), it’s “so simple it’s hard.”
Hopping up on that pull-up bar feels like a comeback. My foot may have grounded me for a bit, but I’m going to capitalize on what’s working right now. 💪🏻

**Slide 1 – Coach Beckett**
Beckett has been playing soccer for 12 years and has played for Charlotte Independence, Strikers, Indian Trail, PRHS, and PRAA. This is his second year coaching with PBPK. Fun fact: Beckett has two dogs! 🐶🐶
**Slide 2 – Coach Tyler**
Tyler has been playing soccer for 11 years and has played for PRAA and CSA. This is his second year coaching with PBPK, and he was also a camper during our second year of camp! Fun fact: Tyler has two snakes! 😳🐍
**Slide 3 – Coach Ayden**
Ayden has been playing soccer for 6 years and currently plays for the GCAA Stallions. Before joining our coaching staff, he attended camp for five years! Fun fact: Ayden loves telling jokes, and we’re sure the kids will hear plenty of them this week. 😄
**Slide 4 – Coach Cam**
Cam is the talent behind the amazing photos you’ll see throughout the week! While she doesn’t play soccer competitively, she loves kicking the ball around with the kids and has a great eye behind the camera. We’re so excited to have her back again this year! 📸

Coach Carson (and his famous Super Soaker!) is back and ready to help keep everyone cool this summer. Carson is fantastic with the kids and will also be helping behind the scenes with our social media this week. He’s already done an incredible job helping spread the word about camp! 💦

PoweredbyPK Recreational Soccer Camp is about so much more than becoming a better soccer player.
It’s an experience we hope your kids will carry with them long after camp ends.
Now more than ever, kids need a safe space to simply be kids—to run, play, move their bodies, and experience the joy of being active. They need opportunities to build meaningful friendships through shared experiences: wins and losses, sweat and tears, learning new skills, making mistakes, and growing through it all.
At PBPK Rec Camp, our coaches do more than teach soccer. They encourage, support, and invest in every child who steps onto the field.
