Founded in 2011 and named in honor of her parents, Marge and Rudy, Rachel Dortch, the artist + maker behind the brand, focuses on detail and craftsmanship, incorporating the slow design principle to create high quality, enduring designs that enhance one’s ind

ividuality. Handcrafted one at a time from the first cut to the final rivet, each Marge & Rudy handbag is as unique as the woman who carries it. Born and raised in Nashville TN, Rachel feels most at home in jeans, a tee, and a well worn pair of Frye boots. “My roots influence my style and my bags have a laid back southern indie feel to them. My design reflects that lifestyle, and I choose leathers that embody that feel as well: strong but supple, and with the natural markings that show the unique character and beauty of the leather.” Extremely eco conscious, Rachel sources local materials and remnants whenever possible and finds uses for even the smallest scraps in an effort to eliminate waste and minimize her carbon footprint. Rachel lives in Charlotte, NC, is married to her high school sweetheart and has three beautiful, creative children.
