Why I Serve: Ari Pieper 💡📔
Epiphany Treasurer

“It is a privilege to serve a community where students are understood, families are embraced, and every child is celebrated.”

Ari Pieper has more than 20 years of experience in education as a high school mathematics teacher, school leader, and executive director of a public charter school. Throughout her career, she has led strategic planning, organizational operations, instructional innovation, and school improvement initiatives focused on student success.

Ari holds a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, a master’s degree in Gifted Education, and a graduate certificate in School Administration. She is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Educational Practice and Innovation with a concentration in Learning Design and Technologies.

Why I Serve: Lauren Schantz 💡📘
Epiphany Vice Chair

“Thanks to the Epiphany village, Avery has a better understanding of his autism and we, as his family, have a better understanding of how to support and advocate for him.”

Lauren is an associate with Rayburn Cooper & Durham, P.A., where she practices in the firm’s civil litigation and business groups. Prior to going into private practice, she spent over five years in the public sector, serving as the Senior Law Clerk to the Honorable Louis A. Bledsoe, III, Chief Business Court Judge (retired), and the Honorable Adam M. Conrad, Special Superior Court Judge for Complex Business Cases, in the North Carolina Business Court.

Lauren also served as the Assistant Secretary and Corporate Governance Advisor for Carilion Clinic, a non-profit regional health care system in Virginia. She graduated from the College of William & Mary with a Bachelor of Arts in Government, and earned her law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Lauren resides in Charlotte with her two sons, Avery and Everett.

Why I Serve: Sam Reaves 💡📗
Epiphany Board Chairperson

“I want other kids and parents to be able to experience the kind of difference that Epiphany has made in our lives.”

Sam is an attorney with 25 years of experience. He serves as Vice President and Senior Commercial Counsel, Energy Storage, for Albemarle Corporation. Albemarle is a world leader in transforming essential resources into critical ingredients for mobility, energy, connectivity, and health. Before joining Albemarle, Sam practiced law at major law firms in Charlotte, NC. Sam graduated from the University of Alabama, where he obtained Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate degrees.

Sam and his wife Jennifer reside in Charlotte, NC with their son, Luke (an Epiphany alumnus).

Join Epiphany for Sensory Friendly Night with the Charlotte Knights! ⚾️🎧

On Tuesday, August 4 at 7:04PM, the Charlotte Knights game will feature: lower overall audio levels, fewer sudden sound effects, and no flashing lights. Sensory tools will be available, including sensory packs, and there will be a private, quiet space that will serve as a sensory room. 💚

In the words of the Knights, “We believe that baseball is for everyone, and our goal is to create an environment where individuals and families feel welcomed, heard, and included while enjoying a night at the ballpark.”
