These bags are made from recycled juice boxes. I use this as my daily carry-all bag for my journal, water bottle, shades & misc items.

The one of the left I bought at Barnes & Noble over 10 years old & is now very worn & flimsy. I found a “new” one from an online seller for $10 & it’s vibrant, strong & colorful & I am a happy camper with this purchase.

This is July 4th - America’s Independence Day in Washington, DC - the Nation’s Capitol!

On the left is July 4th, 1926 with the Klu Klux Klan marching in uniform with faces covered up.

On the right is July 4, 2026 with the White supremacists, Proud Boys & Maga marching with faces covered up!

100 years later & this same old ugly face of racism shows its face again and again!! The more things change- the more racism remains the same. It’s disgraceful & disheartening to see the level of racism that permeates this country & is being steadily fueled, encouraged & supported by the ‘Felon in Charge!’

My mama always said “Every dog has its day” & this wicked government & nation will reap what they sow! I believe we are witnessing The Fall of America (as we look at every “broken” system in this country) — including: government, education, health care, transportation, corrections, climate control, environmental protections & safeguards, etc.

Yet in the midst of all the national confusion & upheaval we are survivors!! Black people are the original people - The Alpha & The Omega, so in spite of all Whites have done & continue to do to us we will rise - greatness is in our DNA…

I am seeing numerous posts about Nolan Wells’ death all over my timeline. Considering the history of racial violence in this country Black folks are naturally suspicious. Many Black folks are very uncomfortable for their child to be the only Black kid with a group of White kids or in all “White spaces” and for good reason based on history.

In this particular case…

it was Mississippi (historically the most racist state in the US) , July 4th (White America’s 250th Independence day, an island (isolated & accessible by boat), water, a group of white boys who ALL returned, ONE Black boy missing & none of his FRIENDS bothered to report him missing, and allegedly his cell phone returned to his family (which is unconfirmed). This is beyond a feeling of suspicion - this is a FLASHBACK to the historical legacy of “mysterious Black deaths” in the company of White folks! It brings to my mind the 3 civil rights workers who were unalived in Mississippi & the subject of the movie “Mississippi Burning”. This sounds all to familiar because we have seen, heard & experienced these stories over & over again.

We don’t know the facts yet with Nolan Wells, yet the suspicious of Black people are valid, real & based on HUNDREDS of years of racial violence inflicted upon us by Whites. I hope the truth surfaces in this case & justice prevails. I also encourage people & parents to be extra cautious who you or your children (even adult children) hang out with. Everyone who appears to be your friend may not be — some get close just to inflict harm or unalive you. In the meantime I send prayers to the family of Nolan Wells!
