ESPAÑOL ABAJO: 🚨 UPDATE: The proposed South Carolina DMV ID requirement changes have reportedly been paused.

The changes that were expected to begin on August 26, 2026 are reportedly on hold and may be delayed until May 2027, following significant feedback from the Carolina Independent Automotive Dealers Association (CIADA) and others.

At this time, we have not seen an official SCDMV announcement confirming a new effective date, so if you need to title or register a vehicle, we encourage you to check with the SCDMV or your dealership before your appointment to confirm the current requirements.

We'll continue to share updates as more information becomes available.

We strongly condemned the illegal arrest and excessive force used against local resident, Abraham Kemmerlin, on the evening of Saturday, July 25, 2026 on the corner of Highway 78 and College Park Rd.

The video footage confirms that he was targeted, assaulted and detained solely for exercising his protected first amendment rights to film law enforcement in a public space and to verbally criticize their actions.

Recording police officers in the performance of their duties in public is a clearly established First Amendment right protected by federal law.

Filming law enforcement is not a crime, it is a vital tool for community safety and government accountability.

Using physical force and arrest to retaliate against speech and photo/video recording is an unconstitutional abuse of power.

We demand that the District Attorney immediately drop all bogus charges against the individual involved.

The officers involved (Bradley Brown) must be immediately subjected to an independent criminal investigation for civil rights violations and excessive force.

The department must publicly reaffirm its policy recognizing the right of bystanders to film police without intimidation, harassment, or retaliation.
