I want to thank all of the faculty, the generous donors, the talented students, the gifted and patient assistants, the hospitable hosts and the many places that opened their doors to the LTK Oboe Camp over the past 13 years. It has been such a joy working with so many gifted students and colleagues. None of it could have been possible without the support of the sponsors, the parents and host families. I am forever indebted to you all. I have learned so much, made many friendships and watched so many young people grow. However all good things must come to an end, and so the era of LTK Oboe Camp does as well.
This is also the year that we lost one of our teachers, my mentor, Harry Sargous. I studied with him in my undergrad at the University of Michigan. He also came once to Charleston to do a masterclass with our area students and teach private lessons. We were very fortunate.
Next June 28 2026 at 4pm, his former students and colleagues will honor him at the Kerrytown Concert House in Ann Arbor MI. 415 N 4th at 4pm. For those of you who are willing to contribute, we are trying to raise $15,000 for a scholarship in his name at Music Academy of the West (fully tax deductible), a place he taught for 17 summers and dearly loved. Donations must be made to: musicacademy.org.
Continue to love music, because that’s what it’s really all about, isn’t it?

I am heartbroken to have to make this announcement, but Oboe Camp for 2025 is canceled. All application fees and sponsorships will be returned.
On March 17, I underwent emergency surgery for a paralyzed diaphragm. This surgery was far more invasive than I realized and it was my second big surgery in 4 months. I had just gotten over a total knee replacement.
My breathing is much better, my incisions (5) are healing, and I am feeling positive, although fatigued much of the time. While there are several faculty members at our wonderful camp, behind the scenes it’s a one woman show! I am not able to physically do what needs to be done to get ready for Oboe Camp this summer. I have no choice but to stay put and heal.
I want thank all of our wonderful sponsors: Howarth London, F Loree Paris, Oboe Chicago, Forrests, Hodge Double Reed Products, Advantage Double Reeds, William Wielgus, David Maves, Margaret Guire, William Gudger, The Light Family, The Serna Family, The Bergman Family. My magnificent faculty: Pedro Falcon, Mezraq Ramli, Hassan Anderson, Nora Roberts, Ellie Rasmussen, Mark Chudnow. At last my wonderful web guy: Justice Towett.
I am so indebted to the above folks. They have made it possible to have this great event here in South Carolina for over 10 years! Thank you!
