Cadre Spotlight: Farewell to Col Christopher “Pepe” Auger
Colonel Christopher “Pepe” Auger earned his commission through Air Force ROTC at Norwich University in 1999. Throughout his distinguished career, he served in a variety of F-15E assignments at both the squadron and wing levels and deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and Inherent Resolve. At the strategic level, he held multiple positions supporting senior Air Force and Department of Defense leaders at the Pentagon, contributing to the planning, integration, and ex*****on of priorities that shaped the future force. His final assignment before retirement was serving as the Commander of AFROTC Detachment 765, The Citadel.
During his time at Detachment 765, Col Auger’s exceptional leadership, mentorship, and dedication were instrumental in delivering a premier training and professional development program for more than 724 officer candidates annually and overseeing the commissioning of 46 lieutenants into the United States Air Force and United States Space Force. He also led the design, development, and instruction of an innovative curriculum focused on the principles of Great Power Competition, well ahead of traditional implementation timelines. Under his leadership, the detachment planned and executed six exercises that reinforced these advanced concepts, preparing future officers for the challenges of modern warfare.
When asked about his favorite ROTC memory, Col Auger shared:
“Seeing the learning that occurred during this spring’s FTX weekend after the capture of El Duro!”
This past Friday, we celebrated Col Auger’s retirement and honored his remarkable 27 years of service to our nation. We thank him for his unwavering commitment to our cadets, cadre, and the profession of arms. His professionalism, character, and dedication have left a lasting impact on the future Air and Space Force officers who will follow in his footsteps.
Col Auger, you will be greatly missed. We wish you and your family continued success, happiness, and fulfillment in the years ahead.

Cadet Spotlight – Meet Cadet Driscoll!
Cadet Driscoll hails from Colorado Springs, Colorado, and is a rising junior at The Citadel majoring in Supply Chain Management.
Next year, he will serve as a Cadre Sergeant for Golf Company within the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. Within Detachment 765’s Cadet Wing, he has also been selected to serve as the Basic Cadet Leader Flight Commander for Golf Flight, where he will help mentor and develop our sophomore cadets.
When asked about his favorite AFROTC memory, Cadet Driscoll shared that it was “contracting alongside my friends this past semester”, a milestone that celebrated their hard work, commitment, and dedication to becoming future Air Force officers.
Cadet Driscoll also participated in the You Can Fly Program, gaining valuable aviation training and experience while accumulating 17 flight hours. These opportunities have further fueled his passion for aviation and will help him pursue his goal of becoming an Air Force pilot.
We are proud of Cadet Driscoll’s dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence. We look forward to his continued success as he develops into a future leader in the United States Air Force.

✈️ Cadet Spotlight: Taking the Leap! 🪂
Do you have what it takes to jump out of an aircraft?
Cadet Brannon and Cadet Mollison do!
This summer, both cadets attended Airmanship 490 (AM-490) at the U.S. Air Force Academy. AM-490 is the only certified jump program in the world where students make their very first freefall jump without instructor assistance. This unique and challenging course develops confidence, discipline, and leadership while pushing cadets well beyond their comfort zones.
Through demanding training and multiple freefall jumps, Cadets Brannon and Mollison demonstrated the courage, commitment, and mental toughness required to succeed in one of the Air Force’s most distinctive airmanship programs.
We are proud of their accomplishments and their commitment to embracing every opportunity to grow as future Air Force officers.

Cadet Spotlight – Meet Cadet Mondrowski!
Cadet Mondrowski hails from Fort Mill, South Carolina, and is a rising sophomore majoring in Chemistry at The Citadel. Next year, he will serve as the Bravo Company Armorer within the South Carolina Corps of Cadets.
Cadet Mondrowski has excelled academically, earning Gold Stars and Dean’s List recognition. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Air Force ROTC In-College Scholarship Program (ICSP), reflecting his outstanding performance both in and out of the classroom.
When asked about his favorite AFROTC memory, Cadet Mondrowski shared, “Competing in the Palmetto Cup.” The experience showcased his competitive spirit, teamwork, and dedication to excellence.
This summer, Cadet Mondrowski attended the Special Warfare Orientation Course at the U.S. Air Force Academy. The rigorous program helped prepare him physically and mentally for the demanding requirements of the 19Z Special Warfare career field and the challenges he may face throughout the training pipeline.
Cadet Mondrowski consistently gives his all in everything he does, embodying the core values of integrity, service, and excellence. We are proud to have him as a member of Air Force ROTC Detachment 765 and look forward to watching his continued success.

Cadet Spotlight – Meet Cadet Kilpatrick!
Cadet Kilpatrick hails from Westlake Village, California, and is a rising sophomore majoring in Intelligence and Security Studies.
Next year in the Corps of Cadets, she will serve as a Cadre Corporal. She has demonstrated excellence in both academics and military performance, earning recognition on the President’s List. Cadet Kilpatrick is also a recipient of the AFROTC In-College Scholarship Program (ICSP).
Reflecting on her favorite ROTC memory, she shared:
“Competing in the Warrior Challenge during FTX Weekend.”
Recently, Cadet Kilpatrick attended and graduated from the Aim High Flight Academy, where she gained valuable aviation knowledge and hands-on flight experience. During the program, she also served as a mentor and role model to 30 high school students.
Additionally, she logged 21.6 flight hours, marking an excellent start toward earning a pilot slot upon commissioning.
Cadet Kilpatrick exemplifies the dedication, leadership, and pursuit of excellence that define Air Force ROTC Detachment 765.

Cadet Spotlight
Meet Cadet Lewandowsk from Camden, Delaware. She is a rising junior majoring in Intelligence and Security Studies.
Next year in the Corps of Cadets, she will serve as the 3rd Battalion Sergeant Major. Academically, she excels as a member of the Distinguished Scholars Program.
This past semester, Cadet Lewandowski participated in The Citadel in DC Program, where she interned at the White House Office of Public Liaison. Reflecting on her experience, she shared:
“During my time at the White House, I had the wonderful opportunity to intern with the Office of Public Liaison. A lot of what OPL does is connect external stakeholders with the White House to build relationships with public interest groups.
While interning, I had the privilege to experience a professional work environment alongside highly driven individuals. I feel more prepared to serve as an officer in the Air Force because of my experience at the White House.”
Within the Cadet Wing, she will serve as a BCL Flight Commander next semester.
Her favorite ROTC memory is participating in field training exercises during FTX Weekend (Fall 2025) at Naval Weapons Station Charleston.
Cadet Lewandowski exemplifies the commitment to excellence in academics, leadership, and service that defines Air Force ROTC Detachment 765.
