The last few weeks our students have been studying disease origin and the concept of assigning diagnosis codes based on physician documentation.
The ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification) is a system used by physicians and other healthcare providers to classify and code all diagnoses, symptoms and procedures recorded in conjunction with hospital care in the United States.

Unsure what the medical coding is? Medical coding is the transformation of healthcare diagnosis, procedures, medical services and equipment into universal medical alphanumeric codes. The diagnoses & procedure codes are taken from medical record documentation, such as transcription of physician's notes, laboratory, radiologic results, etc.

At Certitude we provide quality preparation for the Certified Professional Coder® (CPC®) certification exam for those who want to become medical coders in physician offices, remote coders (work from home), hospital outpatient facilities and ambulatory surgical centers. We are an official American Academy of Professional Coders Education Provider. Our courses are taught by Licensed Instructor, Jennifer Simmons, MBA, CPC, CPC-I, CET

Although hysterectomy is a common procedure in gynecology practice, coding for it is a challenge due to so many code choices. Along with the surgical approach and extent (i.e., total or partial) of the hysterectomy; the size of the uterus and accounting for related performed procedures on accessory organs is key to code selection.
