Healthcare providers, payers, and facilities use CPT codes which range from 00100 - 99499. CPT is maintained by the American Medical Association

Even MORE great news! Join me in congratulating Sabrina Holloman, MBA, CPC-A on becoming a Certified Professional Coder through the American Academy of Professional Coders

Tonight our students completed the ICD-10-CM portion of the course. The ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification) is a system used by physicians and other healthcare providers to classify and code all diagnoses, symptoms and procedures recorded in conjunction with hospital care in the United States. It provides a level of detail that is necessary for diagnostic specificity and morbidity classification in the U.S.

It's an honor to be honored!

Medical necessity is a United States legal doctrine, related to activities which may be justified as reasonable, necessary, and/or appropriate, based on evidence-based clinical standards of care. Health care services or supplies needed to diagnose or treat an illness, injury, condition, disease or its symptoms and that meet accepted standards of medicine. Medical necessity documentation, or lack of it, is one of the most common reasons for claim denials. For a service to be considered medically necessary, it must be deemed reasonable and necessary to diagnosis or treat a patient's medical condition.

Our first course utilizing the Blackboard virtual learning environment kicked off tonight. Students will have the opportunity to experience online teaching, learning, community building, and knowledge sharing in a way that patterns the constant technological changes in the business of healthcare. Excited about this new journey! Tonight in our weekly conference call lecture students got an overview of Healthcare Laws and governing entities.

The last few weeks our students have been studying disease origin and the concept of assigning diagnosis codes based on physician documentation.
The ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification) is a system used by physicians and other healthcare providers to classify and code all diagnoses, symptoms and procedures recorded in conjunction with hospital care in the United States.

Unsure what the medical coding is? Medical coding is the transformation of healthcare diagnosis, procedures, medical services and equipment into universal medical alphanumeric codes. The diagnoses & procedure codes are taken from medical record documentation, such as transcription of physician's notes, laboratory, radiologic results, etc.

At Certitude we provide quality preparation for the Certified Professional Coder® (CPC®) certification exam for those who want to become medical coders in physician offices, remote coders (work from home), hospital outpatient facilities and ambulatory surgical centers. We are an official American Academy of Professional Coders Education Provider. Our courses are taught by Licensed Instructor, Jennifer Simmons, MBA, CPC, CPC-I, CET
