Happy Birthday America!!

When I was a child, my worst fear was the dark. The uncertainty, the unknown, and being vulnerable all crippled me with fear. As I grew up, I found in times of “darkness” I would always find the light because I searched for it. I began to view the darkness as an ally instead of an enemy. In the darkest time of my life, I lost a loved one and thought I’d sit in darkness forever. Through pray, meditation, education, creativity and fitness, I found my light. I rebuilt myself out of the dark.

Once again I found myself sitting in the dark, wondering why life was so unfair. A baby I worked with everyday for over a year, a baby I watched grow into an awesome little girl who inspired me and made me laugh like never before, passed away. It devastated me. She was a glowing, ball of energy and light who made each one of our sessions magical. At the end of every session, she would request twinkle twinkle little star and her face lit up with joy. Out of this dark time, I founded Starlight in honor of the little girl who shined so bright during our time together.

Yes, in the dark there is fear but there is also possibility, stillness, and silence. When life becomes heavy and you find yourself in a dark and uncertain time, find 5 minutes in a day, close your eyes, sink into the dark and meditate to find the light in your life.

I have always had a passion for education. The system, not so much. I love the way the mind grows and expands. Our capability to wonder and question. Our efforts to find answers and reason. I believe people were created to explore the world, create something new and get out there. The more you know, the more you grow and glow ✨

Hey! I am Ashley.

A child of God & American patriot

I believe success begins in the home. I have worked with children and their families for over 15 years. A New York Native who found my heart in Charleston. I went to HS in Manhattan studying art and design. I moved to upstate NY for a change and studied English within the hills and valleys. I came back to NYC to practice acting. I worked hard in the fitness domain, training in everything from yoga to horseback riding.

While I joined the stars in movies, I found a more humble path in schools working with students who have special needs. I loved the students so much, I went for my masters in both education and special education. I spent 5 years working side by side with teachers and other staff to help foster an effective learning environment. I became a certified educator and have helped numerous children and families.
