Meet Tony Kearney (’87), a longtime CPAN board member who recently moved back to North Carolina after years in Atlanta. A proud Tar Heel and advocate for inclusion, Tony is passionate about creating a more welcoming UNC for students, staff, and alumni—especially in today’s challenging climate. We’re grateful for his continued leadership and commitment to building a better Carolina for the next generation.

SEQC50 is now accepting proposals.

The Carolina Pride Alum Network and the UNC Department of Communication invite submissions for SEQC50, a conference marking the 50th anniversary of the first Southeastern Gay Conference, originally held at UNC in 1976.

We welcome creative, cross-disciplinary contributions—panels, performances, presentations, and artwork—that engage LGBTQ+ histories, connect past to present, and envision future possibilities.

Open to undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff across the UNC community.

Meet Hooper Schultz (’14), a returning CPAN board member and current PhD candidate in History here at Carolina. He loves connecting with a wide range of alumni and building community across generations. For Hooper, pride is rooted in political organizing, inclusion, and the fight for a better future for all of us.

With deep roots in campus life and a passion for advocacy, Justin believes in CPAN’s role in preserving what made Carolina special for LGBTQ students—past, present, and future. He’s now a physician based in Los Angeles and proud dog parent to Franklin (named after Franklin Street!). We’re excited to welcome him to the board.
