Our Rashkis PTA is experiencing a real need for the 2026-2027 school year. Our currently serving board members will no longer be able to serve due to either an expiring term or children moving on to middle school. While your support as a parent is critical, we desperately need oversight and leadership to ensure that the rich Rashkis school culture can be revived and thrive in the upcoming school year. Having an engaged and connected PTA board/members is critical in order to make that happen. As we prepare for the onboarding of a new principal, new families for the 2026-27 school year and the wonderful possibilities that a new year brings - please consider joining and supporting our PTA.

Positions include:
President (running monthly meetings, coordinating communications, etc)
Vice President
Treasurer (Managing the budget and PTA finances)

This has been an eventful week for the Rashkis community - An underground spirit week from staff, field day, and a principal recommendation announcement from Dr. Trice!

We are so excited to finish our last two weeks of school with positive vibes. Please remember EOGs are coming up and the end of the school year can be tiring for all students. Please keep up with a consistent bedtime so students can finish the school year strong 💪🏾

“"Dear Rashkis community, I’m pleased to share an update about school leadership for 2026-27 and beyond. Next week, I’ll be recommending Mr. Evan Nelson as the next principal of Rashkis Elementary School. Mr. Nelson has been with CHCCS for six years, including the past two years as the assistant principal at Scroggs Elementary. Prior to that he served as the AP at Seawell Elementary.

“I am honored and excited to join the Rashkis Elementary School community as principal,” Mr. Nelson said. “I believe the principalship is founded on service, on being present in the daily life of the school, and on building relationships. Strong relationships are built on trust that grows when people feel heard, supported, and known. I care deeply about student growth and strong academic outcomes, and I believe that students should have opportunities to develop communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills that will serve them beyond their time as a Raptor. Most importantly, I am committed to reducing and eliminating opportunity gaps in our community and to fostering an environment where students and staff feel a true sense of belonging.”

….

Mr. Nelson’s appointment will become official pending Board approval at their June 4 meeting. After that, be on the lookout for a “meet and greet” with Mr. Nelson before the current school year ends.

Finally, please join me in sharing gratitude for Ms. Minnie Goins as her interim principal service comes to an end in June. Thank you, Ms. Goins!

Sincerely,

Dr. Rodney N. Trice, Superintendent”"
