The Social Neuroscience & Health Lab at UNC is looking for volunteers between the ages of 40 and 60, who have a biological or adopted child, and are in a committed romantic relationship. Volunteers will participate in a study about perceptions of health messages and how we can promote healthier lifestyles for people of all backgrounds.

Participants in this study will first complete online surveys about themselves. Next, they will partake in a 3-4 hour study session at the UNC-CH Biomedical Research Imaging Center (BRIC). During the session, participants will undergo a functional MRI (fMRI) scan while they view health messages and complete a judgment task. After the scan, they will complete questionnaires about the health messages and will fill out additional self-report measures. Three months following the in-person session, participants will be emailed an online follow-up survey. Participants will receive $25 for completing the online surveys, at least $75 and a picture of their brain for completing the in-person study session, and $25 for completing the 3-month follow-up. Participants are able to withdraw from the study at any time.

If you are: right-handed, not claustrophobic, don’t have any metal in your body, and you are not currently pregnant or planning to become pregnant you may be eligible to participate!

If you have questions or concerns about your rights as a research subject, or if you would like to obtain information or offer input, you may contact the Institutional Review Board at 919-966-3113 or by email to [email protected].
