Springfield Golf Resort is my absolute favorite place to teach, play and connect for golf! It's a very special executive course in Chandler and the owners are the best in the world. We had an amazing competitive week. Congratulations to Samantha, Richard and Eli!!! Way to go!

Well, golf is very fun but also hard to play well all the time! A tough start today, but a strong finish. I had an amazing week making new friends, playing, learning and laughing - even through the challenging bounces. Copper Rock is beautiful in every direction that you look. The management team and volunteers made you feel special and welcomed and the LPGA staff was on top of their game. Biggest lesson - never give up on your round or a hole, not matter what it feels like in the beginning, middle or end. It's a privilege to play! Thank you everyone for your support! Thought I'd share some of the experience.....

Very exciting first day. Left a few shots out there but had some good saves too. The day was full of lessons learned and laughs. Had great playing partners - Kristal Parker & Maggie Will, and Steve Cook continues to be an amazing caddie.

A funny lesson learned - goose p**p is a loose impediment, so consider it a "goose impediment" :). On the 9th hole, the wind picked up and left my shot 5 yards short of the green. It started rolling back down the hill, but was stopped by a goose turd. Yes, my ball was resting on the turd... you could call it the most sh*tty lie of the day! The ruling was that you can move a loose impediment, but if your ball moves while doing so, you incur a penalty. We didn't want the penalty, so the choice was to hit through it. I indeed hit through it, it splattered me, got to the green, but scored a bogey.

On the last hole, the wind was blowing hard into us. My drive found the fairway bunker with a very high lip. I pitched out and still had quite a ways to go. I clubbed up and landed on the fringe of the green but it rolled back into the deep greenside bunker, 30 yds from the pin. Steve suggested that I blast it out to make sure I got on the green. Well, blast it I did! Over the green, over the cart path over the flags and into the volunteers, Yikes! Had a 30yd downhill pitch shot coming back. Landed on the greenside hill then rolled down and right to 15 feet. This last green is directly in front of the grand stand with everyone watching my debacle. I just kept smiling. Luckily, I sank my longest putt of the day and they cheered for me. Yes, I raised my arms in victory for a double bogey :)!!!

I'm currently in the bottom half of the field, but if you look at the participants, these are the legends of the game and top senior female golfers in the world. It's a sincere privilege to see them play and be playing alongside.

And how fun to play golf and learn these lessons :)

I'm determined to move up tomorrow!

Please join me in congratulating Samantha Evangelista. All of her hard work, dedication and PMA (positive mental attitude) is paying off!

She won the JGAA Desert Mashie Championship last week and that earned her an entry into the Notah Begay Regional which can lead to the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship.

And through this US Kids Golf season, she earned an invite to the World Teen Championship that will be held in August. Way to go Samantha! We're cheering for you!

If you're going to see the amazing LPGA tour players compete this weekend, The Lesson Zone is open from 10a - 2:30pm and offers free 10 minute lessons from my fellow LPGA teaching professionals.

I had the privilege to compete in the US Senior Women’s Open qualifier at Papago Golf Course yesterday. It was a great experience, even though I did not make the cut this year. (Finished 8th, the top 3 qualified) Was paired with Dina, who won. Wow! Amazing to watch.

Thank you to the Papago staff, the USGA team and the AGA team for creating this opportunity. Great gratitude to Richard Gaona for being the best caddie, the Springfield family that came out and endured the heat to cheer me on and my family & friends that sent so many well wishes. Bigs hugs to all of you!

Tournament golf is tough! Reflecting on the round, I never drove the ball better. 4 approach shots into bunkers and 3 putts that I’d like to do over cost me strokes. I strongly believe that the only way to improve is to compete more. Yes, it takes courage to put ourselves out there in tournaments and encounter shots you can never imagine on the range. Our strengths and weakness become obvious under pressure but that is what brings clarity to what you need to practice. Valuable learning and I’m excited to see what next year brings.

Giving a shout out to Samantha Evangelista this morning! Her hard work and practice over the break earned her back to back wins this weekend at the PGA Firebirds event on Saturday and the Girls Golf of Phoenix- Frozen open on Sunday. Way to go Samantha!
