Inspired by her grandparents, who immigrated from Italy to the United States in search of greater opportunity, Dr. Jamie Petrilla became the first person in her family to earn a college degree. Today, as an assistant professor at the UAGC College of Integrative Learning, she brings that same belief in opportunity into her work through teaching, mentorship, and service.
“My grandmother always said education was the portal, and I think she was right. There’s almost nothing you can’t do if you can get yourself connected to the right people, the right resources, and the right education.”

"After many years of debate and doubt, I decided to take a leap of faith and move forward with finishing my bachelor’s degree. My doubts stemmed from fear of failure and the uncertainty that I would be able to maintain a full-time job while going to school. With the support of my family and dedication to better myself, I decided to enroll at UAGC and give it my best shot.
There were long days and nights of studying and writing papers, finishing homework at 3:30 a.m. and having to get ready for work at 5 a.m. Those were days when I felt as though I couldn’t get through, but I could hear a small voice in the back of my mind saying, ‘Yes, you can do this!’
Here I am, three years later making the Dean's List the entire time with a GPA of 3.8, and I will be a graduate of the UAGC Class of 2025 with my BA in Human Resources Management! *
This entire journey has been one that I will never forget, and I will forever be grateful for my family, the staff, and professors at UAGC because they made this process possible!"

On June 14, 2026, the United States Army marks 251 years of service, sacrifice, and history.
Founded in 1775 when the Continental Congress authorized the enlistment of riflemen, the Army became the nation’s oldest uniformed service — and its legacy continues through generations of Soldiers, veterans, military families, and future service members.
At the University of Arizona Global Campus, we are proud to recognize our growing military-connected community, including Army veterans, active-duty Soldiers, retirees, ROTC students, military families, and military-affiliated learners.
