Cub Run would like to welcome Ms. Smith to our Physical Education team! Ms. Smith is coming to us from McNair Upper Elementary School and is looking forward to starting a new chapter teaching at Cub Run, meeting the students and families, and of course teaching with the legendary Mr. Dofflemyer.

Ms. Smith wasn't always on track to become a teacher. She originally graduated with a business degree in finance and Pre-Law with the intention of becoming a lawyer. While taking a year off from school to get some experience in the field of law and to study for her LSAT, Ms. Smith was asked to help coach a soccer team- and that's when she fell in love with teaching the kids. She went back to school for Physical Education and has been teaching ever since!

Cub Run would like to welcome Ms. Thacher to our Music Education team! Ms. Thacher is coming to us from Lees Corner Elementary School, and is looking forward to joining the Cub Run team, meeting everyone in the community, and making music with her students!

Ms. Thacher has loved music since an early age and knew in tenth grade that she wanted to be a music teacher so she could share the joy of music with others. She enjoys helping her students grow, learn, and be successful in her music education classes.

We are excited to have Ms. Thacher join us as one of our newest Cubbies!🐻

Cub Run would like to welcome Ms. Sims to our Third Grade team! Ms. Sims is coming to us from Graham Road Elementary School, and is looking forward to getting to know the Cub Run community.

Ms. Sims knew she wanted to become when she herself was in elementary school, and now, all these years later, she truly enjoys seeing growth from August to June.

Cub Run would like to welcome Ms. Katz to our Kindergarten team! Ms. Katz is coming to us from Brookfield Elementary School, and is looking forward to getting to know her new Cub Run family and having a fun, learning-filled year with her new kindergarten class!

Ms. Katz got her start working with children as a medical assistant for many years, but made the switch to substitute teaching when her own child started elementary school. It was through substitute teaching that Ms. Katz found her true calling to be in early childhood education, specifically kindergarten. She believes there is nothing more rewarding than watching young children learn, grow, and experience those exact moments when a new concept clicks. She is continually inspired by students' honesty, their joyful silliness, and the privilege of playing a foundational role in their education.

Cub Run would like to welcome Ms. Schutt as our new STEAM teacher! Ms. Schutt has known that she wanted to be a teacher ever since third grade, when she took on the role as her teacher's "classroom secretary."

With 13 years of experience as a classroom teacher, Ms. Schutt is looking forward to moving into the STEAM position here at Cub Run. She is most excited to see the students get excited while conducting experiments and working through the engineering and design process to accomplish their goals.

With 20 years of experience in education, Ms. Sultana has always been passionate about helping students learn, grow, and reach their full potential. Making a positive impact on young lives has been the most rewarding part of her career.

Ms. Sultana looks forward to getting to know her students and colleagues while helping to support an enjoyable year for everyone.

Cub Run would like to welcome Ms. Gupta as our new EAC Teacher! Ms. Gupta is coming to us from Coates Elementary School and looks forward to getting to know her students, collaborating with her colleagues, and becoming part of the Cub Run community.

Ms. Gupta decided to become a teacher because she enjoys helping children learn, grow, and reach their full potential. Working with children in special education has been especially meaningful to her as she loves creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every child can succeed.

Cub Run would like to welcome Ms. Georgy to our Special Education team! Ms. Georgy is coming to us from Daniels Run Elementary School, and is looking forward to connecting with students, families, and staff at Cub Run and collaborating with her new team to create a warm, supportive, and engaging environment for our learners.

For Ms. Georgy, teaching is all about the smile she sees in a child's eyes when they realize they've truly understood a lesson. That "aha!" moment when everything clicks and their confidence grows, she feels, is the most rewarding part of working with students.

While we are sad to see them go, we had a lot of fun celebrating and saying farewell to our sixth grade class of 2026 this past week.

From the annual promotion ceremony to the sixth grade neon celebration and their final walk through Cub Run, our students went out in style. We know they will do great things as they move on to middle school, and they know that once a cubbie, always a cubbie! 🐻
