🥋 NEWLY RESTRUCTURED RANK MANUALS COMING SOON!

We are restructuring and updating our rank manuals to make them more useful, organized, and affordable for our students and families. As the new manuals are released, the older individual-rank editions will gradually be phased out.

The new manuals will be grouped by training level:

⚪🟡 **NOVICE:** White and Yellow Belts
🟢🔵🟣 **INTERMEDIATE:** Green, Blue, and Purple Belts
🔴🟤 **ADVANCED:** Red and Brown Belts

This means that when a new student receives a rank manual, it will cover at least two belt levels instead of requiring a separate book for every belt.

These updated manuals will provide students with a clearer path forward while giving them more training material, knowledge, and preparation for the ranks ahead.

More information will be announced soon!

🥋 LET ME ASK YOU A QUESTION…

When you put your child or yourself into a martial arts, dance, or sports program, what are you trusting that program with?

Your child’s safety?

Your family’s trust?

Their confidence?

Their future?

Because we don’t believe that teaching kicks, punches, forms, throws, dancing, or competition is the ONLY responsibility we have.

We believe we have a responsibility to the WHOLE PERSON.

Every year, thousands of kids and adults walk through the doors of martial arts schools, dance studios, and sports programs. Parents trust instructors they may barely know with their most important responsibility their children.

We don't take that trust lightly.

That's why we voluntarily go above and beyond what is required.

We don't just train in our martial arts.

We continue our education through Kukkiwon Master Courses, ITF Instructor Courses, Hapkido seminars, and other professional training.

But here's something I am especially proud of:

We also train in SAFESPORT and other safety programs.

We undergo STATE and FEDERAL background checks.

We follow safety protocols designed to help protect our students.

And we continue looking for ways to improve.

Why?

Because “that's how we've always done it” isn't good enough for us.

And honestly…

WHY WOULD IT BE?

As of today's date, we are proud to be the ONLY AAU Taekwondo/Karate/Judo/ club in ALL of Western Kentucky doing all of this.

We don't do it because we have to.

We do it because we believe we SHOULD.

There are plenty of places you can learn a martial art.

There are plenty of places you can play a sport.

But when you're choosing a program for your family, I want you to ask more than:

“How good are they at their sport?”

Ask:

Who is working with my child?

Have they been background checked?

What safety training have they completed?

What does the program do when something goes wrong?

What are they doing to protect my child not just teach my child?

And most importantly…

WHAT DOES YOUR PROGRAM DO TO PROTECT YOU?

Because your family deserves more than someone who can teach a great class.

You deserve instructors who are willing to continually learn, train, be checked, and be held accountable.

That's what we believe in.

That's what we work toward every day.

And that's why I am proud to say:

WE DON'T JUST TRAIN CHAMPIONS.
WE HELP PROTECT THE PEOPLE WHO TRUST US.

That's the difference.

Because our head instructor was out of town half of this past week, on THE 25TH this past Tuesday, the Leader-News published an article featuring our program at MUHLENBERG TAEKWON-DO MARTIAL ARTS.

Because of time constraints, the reporter selected photographs from our public page a common and understandable practice. Unfortunately, one photograph featured students from another martial arts school. It was an honest mistake, and we hold no ill feelings toward the reporter or the newspaper.

The photograph had appeared on our page because we shared it on October 7, 2023, to recognize and congratulate that school and its students on their accomplishments. We believe in supporting martial artists and celebrating their success, regardless of school or affiliation.

Sadly, the reporter told us she had already received phone calls from people complaining about the mistake and that some of those callers included unnecessary insults with their concerns.

We want to be clear: we absolutely believe in accuracy, and the photograph should have been properly identified. However, honest mistakes happen, and they can be corrected without hostility, personal attacks, or disrespect.

We are confident that the instructor, Mr. Brandon Edwards, was not responsible for those insulting calls. We have no conflict with him or his school, and we will continue to recognize the accomplishments of others when recognition is deserved.

Martial arts should teach courtesy, integrity, self-control, and mutual respect. How we respond to an honest mistake says far more about our character than the mistake itself.

At MUHLENBERG TAEKWON-DO MARTIAL ARTS, we will continue supporting our students, encouraging other schools, and remaining UNITED IN MUTUAL FRIENDSHIP.
