Take the Next Step
Devotional
Sometimes we want to know the whole plan before we start something.
But God doesn’t always show us everything at once.
After Moses died, God chose Joshua to lead His people. That was a huge job! Joshua probably had a lot of questions about what would happen next.
God didn’t give Joshua every detail. He told him it was time to get ready and go.
Joshua had to trust God and take the next step.
We can do the same thing. You don’t have to know everything God has planned for your life. You don’t have to know what you’ll be when you grow up or have every problem figured out.
You just need to think about what God is asking you to do today.
Maybe your next step is apologizing, helping someone, praying about something, trying again after you failed, or choosing to do the right thing when nobody is watching.
Follow God one step at a time. He already knows where He is leading you.
Bible Verse
“Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them.” — Joshua 1:2
Think About It
What is one good or brave step you can take today to follow God?
Prayer
God, I don’t always know what will happen next, but I know I can trust You. Help me be brave, obey You, and take the next step You put in front of me. Amen.

🍂 Fall Break is almost here!
Just a reminder to our CCA families that there will be NO SCHOOL October 9–13 for Fall Break and parent/teacher conferences.
We hope everyone enjoys the extra time with family, gets some rest, and comes back ready for another great stretch at CCA!
We’ll see everyone back at normal time on Wednesday, October 14.
And don’t forget—Wednesday is Chapel Day, so students should return in their navy polo.
Enjoy your Fall Break, Lions! 🦁💙💛

Don’t Get Too Comfortable
Devotional
Being comfortable feels good. We like doing things we already know how to do because we know what to expect.
But sometimes getting too comfortable can keep us from growing.
Jesus told a story about servants who were trusted with valuable things. Some of them used what they were given and made more from it. One servant was afraid, so he buried what he had been given and did nothing with it.
God has given you things too.
Maybe you are good at helping people, making others laugh, drawing, learning, singing, sports, solving problems, or being a good friend. Your gifts may look different from someone else’s, and that’s okay.
God doesn’t want you to hide what He has given you because you’re afraid to try. He wants you to use it!
You might make mistakes while you’re learning. That’s part of growing. Don’t let being comfortable keep you from discovering how God can use you.
Bible Verse
“For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property.” — Matthew 25:14
Think About It
What is something God has given you that you could use to help or encourage someone else?
Prayer
God, thank You for the gifts You have given me. Help me not to hide them because I am afraid or uncomfortable. Show me how I can use what You’ve given me to help others and honor You. Amen.

🚒🔥 Fire Safety Day at CCA! 🔥🚓

We had such a fun and educational day learning all about fire safety with some very special visitors! Our local firefighters came to spend time with our students, and we were also thankful to have members of local law enforcement join us. 👨‍🚒👮‍♂️❤️

Our students learned important safety tips, asked questions, and enjoyed getting an up-close look at the people who help keep our community safe every day.

And of course, we mixed in plenty of FUN! 🎉 Our preschoolers enjoyed cute crafts, lots of smiles, and even a piñata! 🪅✂️🎨

We are so thankful for our firefighters and law-enforcement officers and for the time they took to pour into our students. We appreciate all you do for our community! ❤️🤍💙

Get Out of the Boat
Devotional
Imagine sitting in a boat during a storm and seeing Jesus walking toward you on the water!
That happened to Peter and the other disciples. Peter asked Jesus if he could come to Him, and Jesus said, “Come.”
Peter had a choice. He could stay where he felt safe, or he could trust Jesus and step out of the boat.
Peter stepped out—and he actually walked on water!
Later, Peter became afraid and started to sink. But Jesus reached out and caught him.
Following God can sometimes feel a little scary too. Maybe you need courage to make a new friend, stand up for someone, admit that you did something wrong, or try something you’re afraid you can’t do.
Being brave doesn’t mean you’re never scared. It means you trust God enough to take the next step anyway.
And just like Jesus was there for Peter, He will be with you too.
Bible Verse
“Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.” — Matthew 14:29
Think About It
Is there something you know is right that you’ve been afraid to do?
Prayer
Jesus, help me trust You when I feel afraid. Give me courage to step out, do what is right, and remember that You are always with me. Amen.

In Loving Memory of Our Sweet Sherry Jones 🤍

Today, our CCA family is grieving the loss of someone very special to us. Our sweet Sherry Jones went home to be with Jesus today.

Sherry fought a difficult battle, and while our hearts are so sad to see her go, we are thankful that her battle is over. She is no longer suffering, and today she is in the arms of Jesus—the One she loved and served so faithfully.

Sherry was much more than a volunteer at Chapel Christian Academy. For many years, she gave her time, her heart, and her love to the children of CCA. She served in our school and through the children’s ministry at Chapel of the Hills, teaching Children’s Church, helping with VBS, and sharing her gifts with our students through extracurricular classes.

When Sherry wrote her biography for our CCA page, she said something that tells you exactly who she was:

“I love the Lord, and know He is the reason for my being… I love all these children and simply watching them grow, especially in their love for Jesus.”

And she truly did. She loved our children. She loved watching them learn, grow, laugh, and most importantly, grow in their relationship with Jesus. The lives she touched during her years with us are part of the legacy she leaves behind.

Our hearts and prayers are especially with her husband, Charlie, her daughter, Summer, and all of Sherry’s family and loved ones.

We will miss her smile. We will miss her presence. We will miss seeing her loving on our students. But because of the faith Sherry lived so openly, we do not say goodbye without hope.

Today, the Jesus she taught our children about is the Jesus she is seeing face to face.

Rest well, sweet Sherry. Your battle is finished. You are home. 🤍

“Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

🚒 Fire Trucks at CCA Today!
Just a heads-up to our CCA families and neighbors—you may see fire trucks at the school today, but there is no emergency!
As part of Fire Prevention Week, our local firefighters will be visiting CCA to spend some time with our students. The kids will get to see the fire trucks up close, meet some of the firefighters who serve our community, and learn important lessons about fire safety.
We’re excited for a fun morning of learning and are so thankful to our local firefighters for taking the time to visit our CCA Lions!
So if you see the fire trucks at CCA today—no need to be alarmed. They’re here for a special visit! 🚒🦁

Trust God Even When You Don’t Understand
Devotional
Have you ever been told to do something and thought, “But that doesn’t make sense!”
Peter probably felt that way too.
Peter had been fishing all night and caught nothing. He knew a lot about fishing, so when Jesus told him to try again, Peter could have said, “There’s no point. I already tried.”
Instead, Peter trusted Jesus and did what He said.
Sometimes we won’t understand everything God asks us to do. We might wonder why we should forgive someone who hurt our feelings, tell the truth when we could get in trouble, or be kind to someone who isn’t kind to us.
Following God doesn’t mean we will always understand everything. It means we trust that God knows more than we do.
When God’s Word tells us what is right, we can trust Him enough to obey—even when it’s hard or doesn’t make sense to us yet.
Bible Verse
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. — Isaiah 55:8
Think About It
Can you think of something God teaches us to do that can sometimes be hard to understand or obey?
Prayer
God, help me trust You even when I don’t understand everything. Give me courage to listen to Your Word and do what is right. Amen.
