While studying marketing in college, María Elena Salinas first found her way into media through radio. A job opportunity brought her to Spanish-language television in Los Angeles, where she discovered a passion for news and storytelling. She continued her studies in broadcast journalism while building her career.
Salinas spent more than three decades with Univision as co-anchor of Noticiero Univision, informing millions of viewers across the U.S. She interviewed presidents, world leaders, and public figures, earning numerous honors including a Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award.
Today, We Celebrate María Elena Salinas and the voice she has brought to journalism for more than a generation.

Meet Maverick, Coe’s registered therapy dog. You’ll often find him in the Student Life Office (Upper Gage) alongside Emily Barnard, Assistant Dean of Health & Wellness & Counselor.
Counseling services at Coe are provided by Emily Barnard and Cathy Muller, Student Care Coordinator & Counselor — and they’re here to support you.
Counseling is your chance to think out loud with an experienced and objective listener — someone who can help you explore your options, offer new ways to cope, connect you with helpful resources, or simply listen.
If you’re not sure where to begin, we can help with that.
