Recently I was asked to join a podcast hosted by Courtney Parnell, founder of Sacred Earth Life in Austin, Texas. On this platform, Courtney shares wisdom from world renown wellness practitioners and includes the insights of her own personal journey of living life with purpose. Courtney asked me to discuss mindful parenting, digital wellbeing and the importance of financial planning for families. I was honored to be a guest on her program.

This article provides some wonderful inspiration about the powerful impact of a thoughtful, authentic apology. I often talk to parents and couples about the fact that we all will make mistakes and have moments we are not our best selves. Thinking that you're not going to have some of those days is unrealistic. As this article states, I also believe that it serves our highest good to apologize if we think we've hurt or offended someone. I would also highlight the importance of reconnection after an apology, this would be time spent together, participating in a mutually enjoyable activity, allowing some healing to begin in the relationship.

"I'm sorry" isn't enough—Christine Carter explains what else needs to be said.

Why We Do This Work

Many people ask us why we choose to do this work coaching couples, parents and families. Our answer begins by acknowledging that Kim and I have both traveled long and bumpy roads in our lives to get to this place. One of our favorite authors, Martha Beck, might describe this work as finally following our North Star.

When we do this work, our hearts sing and our souls rejoice and we believe that is a sign that we are doing the work we were meant to do, and following the path that was meant for us to travel. To coach, mentor, and guide couples and families makes us feel that we are doing something that really matters.

We both have stories about our childhood that have led us to this work. Both of us had family experiences that made us realize that parenting can create a lifetime of memories for children, and unfortunately, sometimes what children remember most are the painful times. We have realized that we must live in the present moment and do the best we can with the resources we have and we must continue to learn, to grow and to evolve to make our families, our communities, and our world a better place.

We vowed to do it differently and this work is our chance. This is our life, our love and our passion. Please join us on this journey to build lasting relationships, loving families and a better world.

Peace and Blessings,

David
