I burnt out 4 times. Not cute, trust me!
Yes… 4. Apparently I needed to learn the lesson properly.

The worst one took 3 years to recover from.
Not 3 weeks. 3 years.

Research suggests burnout recovery roughly looks like this:

▪️ Mild burnout → 2–12 weeks
▪️ Moderate burnout → 3 months to 2+ years
▪️ Severe burnout → 3–5 years

So yes… burnout is expensive: time, money + energy.

Which is why we need to notice the warning signs earlier and start protecting our energy before our nervous system pulls the emergency brake.

Small things help more than people think.

Try these - they genuinely work:
	1.	✏️ Doodle or do something creative for 5–10 minutes. Longer if you can. 45 minutes is magic.
	2.	💃 Dance to one song like nobody is watching.
	3.	🧴 Turn your skincare into a slow ritual, not a rushed task.
	4.	💬 Say out loud: “I’m proud of myself.” Yes, really.
	5.	📝 Write down one small win from today. We forget to celebrate ourselves.
	6.	🌿 Step outside and take five deep breaths before fixing anything.
	7.	🚫 Deliver something at 80% and move on. Trust me… nobody noticed the extra 20%.
	8.	💗 Speak to yourself like you would your best friend.
	9.	📵 Put your phone down for 30 minutes. The world will survive.
	10.	⛔️ Make yourself a little less available. Spend time with you.

Pick three. Protect them.

Painting and doodling are my favourite resets.
Creative healing keeps my ambition alive without frying my nervous system.

Hello, I am Vanessa - part-time artist, biz owner, executive coach, dog mum, friend, sister, auntie, fiancée - and I use painting and doodling to calm my busy mind and find joy in real life. I burnt out 4 times and now say NO to burnout every day.

Follow me for good vibes, mindful doodling and a little bit of life wisdom for high-achievers and overthinkers, who just want to chill and enjoy life. Send this to a friend you care about too.

⭐️ Comment the word ‘BURNOUT’ and I’ll send you my free PDF to help interrupt spirals and calm your nervous system ⭐️
