Hello everyone

Here is the list as it currently stands for our trip tomorrow for New York.

Based on the list above, we have a total of 11 students going to New York on tomorrow. That means that there are still 9 seats left. At this point, an e-mail to me will suffice if you would like to go (no money required). Once you receive an e-mail confirmation from me, consider yourself on the list. Once the list fills up, that will be it. If you're interested, get your name on the list ASAP! I am also attaching to this e-mail a travel consent form that will need to be filled out by all students going on the trip tomorrow. Please fill that out (electronically) and send it back to me ASAP. These forms are necessary in order for you to go on the trip. I will also have some blank copies tomorrow in case you don't have access to a computer before then.

Remember, we will be meeting in front of the Catonsville campus library between 6:30 and 6:45 am. We MUST leave no later than 7am to ensure that we make our reservation for the 911 memorial museum. I was informed that it generally takes about an hour to get through the memorial, so be prepared to be on your feet. Also, for those of you who have Psychology Club t-shirts, please consider wearing your shirts on tomorrow to represent. If you do not have a shirt, I will bring extras.

This is just an update on our upcoming trip to New York. The trip is still scheduled for this coming Friday, April 26th (meeting between 6:30 and 6:45 am, leaving no later than 7am). However, there has been a slight change in the events for the day.

We will begin our visit with the 911 Memorial as planned, but our visit to the New York State Institute has been cancelled. Apparently, all presentations for that day had to be cancelled due to an overlap with a prescheduled event, and May 3rd, the only other day that would work for us, did not work for them. So, we are now going to follow up our 911 Memorial visit with a ferry trip to Staten Island via the Staten Island ferry. While on the ferry ride, you will be able to see historical sites such as the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island (just to name a few). We will also be having lunch in either Staten Island or Manhattan (I will be consulting over the week with those who are going to see if there is a preference regarding the area or restaurant--I've heard the pizza there is excellent). I am also looking in to possibly visiting a slave burial ground which has been receiving a lot of attention since its discovery. It is close to where we will be catching the ferry, and it is very relevant to both black history and psychology.

For those who have already reserved their seats, if this change in schedule has affected your decision to go, please let me know ASAP. For those of you who may now want to go because of the change, there is still a chance. Unless someone gives up their seat, we now have about 10 of the 20 seats remaining (this is not including those who want to go but have not paid--this only includes those who have paid their money). If you would like to go but don't have the money, there is one seat available that has already been covered, but the student has offered to give up her seat to a fellow student in need. If you are that student, please let me know ASAP--this offer is on a first-come-first-served basis).

I will be back in touch again soon with more updates, and I am looking forward to our trip to New York. I hope that you are among those who can join us. Dr. D.
