Thank you to the 200 or so seniors who applied for the Castro Valley Educational Foundation Scholarships. There are still Castro Valley HIgh School Specific Scholarships available. Please check them out at the Castro Valley High School website. Go to the Parents/Students drop-down, then to the College and Career Center, and then to the scholarship link.

There is the Class of 2016 scholarship, The Cliff Burton Scholarship, The Douglas K. Rogers scholarship, The Matthew Gearhart Scholarship, The Lindsay McDonald Scholarship, The Verna Pogetto Scholarship, and the Music Parents Society Scholarship.

Early Decision Workshops:

Las Positas College : Wednesday, February 1st after school
Chabot College: Wednesday, February 8th after school

In the CVHS College and Career Center
from immediately after school until as late as 3:30 (or if there is a lot of questions, maybe later)

This is an opportunity for students to learn how to register early for their classes.

A representative from each school campus will be on site, on the day that their school is listed.

What's happening in the College and Career Center?
This week, we are busy with Final Exams. Next week we have a lot of events happening:
Monday, 1/23 ALL SOPHOMORES will be taken to an ROP Presentation during their P.E. class time. They will learn about the Sophomore tours that will be happening on Thursday and Friday.
Tuesday, 1/24 a representative from Holy Names University will be visiting at lunch time.
Wednesday, 1/25 AFS ( an international study-abroad program) will send a representative to The CVHS College and Career Center at lunch time to give information on all the wonderful places students can go to, and all the amazing things they will learn.
Also on Wednesday, there will be a College Financial Planning Night in the CVHS Cafeteria from 6:30-8:00 PM.
Thursday and Friday, 1/26 & 27 the sophomores will be taking a tour of the Eden Area Regional Occupational Program facilities to learn all about what ROP can offer them. More information about the ROP tours will be coming soon.

Tonight is Cash for College Night
Some of you might have hear that the time is from 5-7. That is incorrect. The actual time is from 6:30-8:30 PM.

This event is for Seniors AND their parents.

Seniors (and parents of seniors):

Don't forget that this Wednesday is Cash for College Night.
6:30-8:30 PM in the cafeteria at CVHS. There will be a financial aid specialist from Chabot College presenting, and the media lab will be open after the presentation to assist you with completing the FAFSA.

Here is what we ask you to do between now and Wednesday:
Activate your FAFSA at fafsa.gov. You will need to set up an FSA (Federal Student Aid) ID # and a password...write those down and keep in a safe place.

Students and their parents need to create their own FSA I.D. #

This evening IS for Seniors AND their parents. Students will be asked to complete a survey after the presentation. It would be great if parents complete the survey too! If they complete the survey, their name will be entered in a drawing.
