Welcome to My Shop and the Creative Journey That Changed My Life. At 54, I discovered something that completely lit me up from the inside out: pottery. After more than 30 years working as an executive assistant, a role I loved and gave my all to, I found myself drawn to clay in a way I couldn’t ignore. What started as a creative outlet quickly became something much deeper. Working with clay brings

me peace, calms my anxiety, and gives me a sense of joy I didn’t even realize I was missing. I took my first pottery class in September 2024 and was immediately hooked. I began creating at my kitchen table, squeezing in time between work and everyday life. That small setup evolved into a full-blown passion, and now each piece I make carries not just texture and form but also heart. I create every item by hand with care and intention, hoping that it brings someone else the same feeling of joy it brings me. This shop is the start of something bigger. I’m building it from the ground up, one piece at a time, with dreams of turning this into a full-time creative business. I’m so grateful for your support in helping me grow. Remember the odd-shaped piece I was experimenting with the other day?

Well… I made a decision.

I ended up cutting apart a Christmas underglaze transfer and placing the little candy canes, peppermints and details throughout the different sections instead of covering the whole piece and I am so excited about where this one is going.

I especially love the candy cane heart in the center.

Now comes the part of pottery where I have to hand it over and hope for the best.

Next stop: bisque firing.

Still a few steps to go before this one is finished, but I’m already imagining what it could look like once the glaze brings everything together.

Fingers crossed it behaves itself in the kiln.

I’ve been sharing a few of the stories behind the pieces on my website, and this is one I especially wanted to share.

Born to Run

There is something about horses that has always felt like freedom to me.

Maybe it’s the way they can be perfectly still one moment and full of movement the next. Or maybe it’s that little bit of wildness they seem to carry with them no matter how gentle they become.

That feeling became the story behind this four-piece set.

For me, Born to Run is a reminder not to lose that part of ourselves either the part that stays curious, independent, a little untamed, and ready to run when the gate finally opens.

I love that every piece I create gets to have its own story, and hopefully eventually becomes part of someone else’s.

Got a little experimental with this one.

I wanted to play with form instead of starting with a perfectly symmetrical shape, and somehow this wonderfully odd, woven-looking platter came out of it. I love the contrast between all of those strong geometric sections and the soft scalloped edge.

Now comes the hard part… deciding what it wants to become.

Do I go fall with a warm botanical underglaze transfer?
Do I turn it into something Christmas?
Or do I leave the pattern completely exposed and let different glazes do all the work?

I have a few ideas already, but I’m trying not to decide too quickly because I think this one could go in several completely different directions.

Among the Wildflowers

There will always be the big moments the ones we celebrate, photograph and remember.

But so much of what makes a life beautiful happens in between them.

Morning coffee. Dinner around the table. A conversation that lasts longer than expected. Someone making you laugh when you needed it most.

That is the story behind this piece.

At first you notice the big flowers, but the longer you look, the more little details begin to appear much like the ordinary moments in life that sometimes become the ones we remember most.

GR Pottery Forms Plum Island Transfers

New project underway, and I have BIG plans for this piece.

The GR Pottery Forms form is finished and the Plum Island Transfers underglaze transfer is in place… now comes the part where the vision really starts to come together.

I’m trying something a little different with this one, and if everything works the way I’m picturing it, I think it could turn out pretty special.

There are still a few steps between this and the finished piece, so for now I’m just keeping my fingers crossed and trusting the process.

Can’t wait to show you how this one turns out.

A fun little project in the works using up the last of my marbled clay. I couldn’t let any of it go to waste, and I love how this piece is coming together already. Now comes the hard part… waiting to see how it looks once it’s finished. One of my favorite things about working with marbled clay is that every single piece has its own look and no two are ever the same.

This is the part where I try very hard not to get impatient.

These two platters are at that waiting stage GR Pottery Forms formed, detailed, and now holding Plum Island Transfers underglaze transfers while I wait for the perfect time to remove them from the forms.

One has a blue design and the other has a black design, and I am so anxious to see how they turn out. This is always the moment where it feels like a mix of excitement, hope, and just a little bit of nerves.

If all goes well, they’ll hold their shape and the transfers will be a success.

I was SO beyond excited about these horse pieces… and against my better judgment, I got attached before they ever made it through the kiln.

And, of course, the kiln gods had other plans.

One of the pieces ended up with a surprise little spot of someone else’s glaze on it definitely not part of the original design. That’s pottery for you: sometimes you can do everything right and still get a little reminder that the kiln is in charge.

But even with the unexpected mishap, I’m really happy with how these horse pieces turned out. I love the black-and-white imagery, the horseshoes, and those wavy edges so much.

And then there’s the colorful floral tray… that one was completely experimental. I was just playing, layering, adding details, and seeing where it went and apparently the kiln gods approved of that one.

Pottery keeps teaching me not to get too attached before the final firing… although I’m clearly still working on that lesson.

Just picked these up from the kiln and I am SO happy with how they turned out!

I had an idea in my head for these entertainment boards, but with marbled clay you never really know exactly what you’re going to get once everything is finished. That’s part of the fun.

The movement in these two turned out so different one has these beautiful defined swirls and the other is softer and almost stone-like. I kept turning them over and looking at all the little details when I got them home.

Definitely one of those kiln pickups that makes me want to head straight back into the studio and make more.

I think these may be some of my favorites yet.

Remember that pink Kobalt adjustable workbench I’ve been trying to find?

Yeah… STILL OUT OF STOCK.

Meanwhile, my slab roller has been over here saying, “Excuse me, could I PLEASE get a more stable home?”

So I kept looking…

And then I saw HER.

A pink Kobalt rolling cabinet with a wood top.

My brain immediately went:

Slab roller fits on top. ✔️
TONS of storage underneath. ✔️
On wheels. ✔️
Matches my studio. ✔️
PINK. ✔️✔️✔️

ADD. TO. CART.

So now we wait for the newest member of the pink pottery studio to arrive.

But Lowe's Home Improvement Kobalt Tools don’t think this means I’ve forgotten about that adjustable workbench.

I STILL WANT HER.

At this point I’ve collected so much of the pink Kobalt line that quitting now would just be irresponsible.

The studio continues…

Glazes everywhere
Pink storage everywhere
My wallet quietly asking me to stop
