Most times, taking the long way around is completely worth it. 🏔️

I took the Disco out for some back yard exploring and was I happy that I did. This state continues to blow me away. I may have even solidified a new bike packing route through the middle of this postcard.

You just never know what you will find on your evening walk living at 9,000 feet. This little guy is becoming a regular sighting this summer. The Red Fox is a really interesting animal. They have many different vocalizations beyond just a bark, they use the earths magnetic field to hunt, and they can eat thousands of rodents in a year. It’s super cool to see this one so often in our own backyard.

We braved the crowds on a chilly day in Guffey today. While the rain and cooler temps are welcome, we could have used one of those 90 degree days, because that water was COLD!

Rachael and I are in a season of crazy amounts of travel, events, and honestly, work. Rachael’s season starts in May and ends in October and I merely try to stagger shifts to be able to spend maximum time with her while helping keep our projects and passions on track.

Before she left for the most recent stent, we got to spend an incredible evening with no cell service enjoying public land, eating a good meal, and preparing for the busy season.

Check out the newest episode of our YouTube series, showing how we installed a swivel passenger seat in our budget van build. This was a bit of a splurge for us, but the GoodTime Vans swivel seat has been well worth the price. Installation is straightforward and only took a couple of hours.

Soooo we did a thing. Inspired by THE KOOK stoked and his pop top 4runner, we cut a massive hole in our GX. Now we prepare for a troopy style interior and more adventure. If all goes well, both of our rigs will be out in Montana for The Big Thing at XOVERLAND Ranch !

The Grand Canyon is a place that I will never get tired of visiting. This was my 3rd time below the rim and I’m already scheming the next trip. We hiked the descent from Cottonwood to Phantom Ranch and the Colorado River. We were fortunate to have a Ranger and a visiting astronomer from the to walk us through using a telescope. We even got to see Saturn!

In my search for a one-motorcycle quiver, I found a second motorcycle, a Yamaha FJR1300. In my first month of ownership I’ve realized that there is no perfect motorcycle because there is nothing on pavement that this bike does poorly compared to my dual sport and this bike struggles on dirt roads. I have also found that riding a 145 horsepower rocket is the best way to meet local law enforcement.
