Thank you to everyone who has supported my grandmother’s organization and legacy: The Maggie Artis Hucks Nursing Scholarship Foundation!

We will start accepting scholarship applications in August for the Spring 2026 semester.

To qualify for a nursing scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

Eligibility Criteria:
Nursing students in an accredited program, a minimum GPA of 3.0, financial need, and community involvement.

Application Process:
Complete an online application.
Required materials include an essay, transcripts, and recommendation letters.

Award Amount:
$2,000 per recipient
Renewable

Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the recipient’s school. Applications will open on August 1, 2025, and you can access the application through our website. If you have any questions, please email Ursula White at [email protected]

Honoring a Legacy: The Maggie Artis Hucks Nursing Scholarship Foundation

On February 16, 2025, we said goodbye to an incredible woman, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Maggie Artis Hucks graced this world for 90 beautiful years. Though she never had the opportunity to become a nurse herself, she was always my biggest supporter, encouraging me every step of the way in my journey.

To honor her legacy and the kindness she shared, I have created The Maggie Artis Hucks Nursing Scholarship Foundation—a tribute to her unwavering belief in the power of nursing and education. This foundation will support aspiring nurses in achieving their dreams, just as Maggie always wished for others.

Her love, wisdom, and encouragement will live on through this scholarship, helping the next generation of compassionate caregivers. Stay tuned for more details on how you can support this mission.

Welcome to the Maggie Artis Hucks Nursing Scholarship Foundation.
Maggie Artis Hucks was born in North Carolina in 1934 and grew up in the rural areas of the state. From an early age, she worked tirelessly to support her family, laboring in to***co fields, factories, and childcare. Despite the challenges she faced, Maggie always held a deep passion for nursing and dreamed of becoming a nurse. However, due to the circumstances of the time, she was unable to pursue her aspiration.

Though Maggie was never able to fulfill her dream, her passion for nursing lived on through her oldest granddaughter, who carried her legacy forward in the healthcare field. Inspired by Maggie’s resilience and dedication, The Maggie Artis Hucks Nursing Scholarship Foundation was established to honor her memory and support future generations of nurses.

This foundation is committed to providing financial assistance to deserving nursing students, helping them cover the costs of tuition, textbooks, and exam preparation. By empowering aspiring nurses, we aim to remove financial barriers and ensure that Maggie’s legacy continues to inspire and uplift those pursuing careers in healthcare.
