A REALLY IMPORTANT REMINDER FROM YOUR HAIRSTYLIST: šŸ¤

Iā€™m going to be a little more blunt about this because this has happened way too many times.

Saturday, during our free haircut event, there were coughing kids in the lobby, runny noses in my chair, and children who were very obviously not feeling well. I disinfected everything. I used hand sanitizer after every haircut. I did everything I could to protect myself and everyone else.

And I still ended up sick.

Hopefully itā€™s just a cold, but regardless, this should not have happened in the first place.
If your child wakes up sick, has a fever, is coughing, has a runny nose, is vomiting, or is clearly feeling unwell ā€” KEEP THEM HOME.
I donā€™t care if their appointment was already scheduled. I donā€™t care if itā€™s hard to reschedule.
I donā€™t care if youā€™ve been waiting weeks for the appointment. I donā€™t care if itā€™s a free haircut deal only that day. A haircut is not an emergency.

You do not get to decide that your childā€™s hair is more important than someone elseā€™s health.
Hereā€™s the part that people donā€™t always think about:
My week was booked. I had clients scheduled today, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Now Iā€™ve had to cancel those appointments because Iā€™m sick. I do not get paid for those canceled appointments.
The bills I planned to pay still need to be paid. The things I planned to buy now have to wait. And once Iā€™m better, I have to play catch-up trying to get everyone rescheduled while also keeping up with the clients who were already booked. Thatā€™s not a ā€œfun vacation at home.ā€
Thatā€™s lost income.

And itā€™s not just me.
It could be the hairstylist you see.
The nail tech you booked.
The esthetician you have an appointment with.
The dentist youā€™re seeing.
The server at the restaurant.
The cashier at the store.
Or another client who has their own family, job and responsibilities.

Your child being sick doesnā€™t stop being contagious just because you have somewhere you want to take them. And no, this isnā€™t my clientsā€™ fault. It isnā€™t my fault, But it IS the result of someone making the decision to knowingly bring a sick child into a public place around other people.

So please, especially with back-to-school season here:
**IF YOUR KID IS SICK, KEEP THEM HOME.**

I will never be upset with a parent for telling me, ā€œMy kid is sick, we need to reschedule.ā€ I would rather have you cancel on me than have you show up sick and potentially take out my entire week of clients.

Please remember that there is a real person behind this business. I depend on my appointments for my income, and when I get sick, I donā€™t have paid sick leave waiting for me.
Think about the person you might be affecting before you decide that an appointment is worth the risk.

Please stay home when youā€™re sick. šŸ¤

I have some super exciting newsā€¦ I made it to the final round of voting for Best of Rusk County! šŸ¤

I couldnā€™t have done this without every single one of my clients, my social media followers, my supportive parents, siblings, fiancĆ©, and everyone else who has encouraged and believed in me along the way. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Considering Iā€™ve only been doing hair for a little over a year, this has been such an unexpected accomplishmentā€”but one Iā€™m so proud of. Along the way, Iā€™ve had the privilege of meeting so many amazing women in this industry who have inspired and supported me.
Iā€™m beyond grateful for every part of this journey, even the hard days, because theyā€™ve helped shape where I am today. I genuinely canā€™t believe Iā€™ve made it this far, and I canā€™t thank yā€™all enough for helping me get here.
