One year ago today, I started working at Bonita Beauty, and I genuinely cannot believe itās been a whole year already. š«
In this industry, nobody really tells you how hard it can be to find a salon that truly feels like home. Of course, nowhere is perfect, but Iām so, so glad I found this salon. Moving from a town of 4,000 people to a town of 13,000 has been a big change. Iāve met so many amazing people, and Iāve genuinely enjoyed living and working in a town as amazing as Henderson. Bonita Beauty has taught me so much, and Iāll forever be grateful for the knowledge, experience, and opportunities this place has given me over the past year.
Jessica and Courtney have both played such a huge part in making this salon feel like a place where I can be myself and do my own thing. When I came in for my āinterview,ā they both looked at me waiting for me to start, and I looked back at them waiting for them to startā¦ and honestly, I think that pretty much sums up the overall vibe we have going. š Nobody really knows whatās going on, but weāre all just kindaā¦ there. And somehow, it works. š There have been so many changes to the salon over the past year, and itās been so cool watching everything come together. At one point, we had a window. One day, Jessica decided it didnāt need to be there anymore, so she literally hammered it out. Sheās a do-er. Meanwhile, Courtney is stressing in the corner explaining why this was probably a bad idea. Sheās a thinker, then a do-er. š
They balance each other so well.
Lilly and I met in college, so our friendship wasnāt new, but Iāve loved having another person there who started at the same time as me. It made the beginning of this journey even better.
Overall, Iād say Iām pretty dang lucky with my salon family, and Iād choose this place over and over again. When youāre first starting out in this industry, you really donāt know what to expect. After my last salon experience, I honestly had pretty low expectations for salons in general. But this place completely changed my perspective.
Iāve thrived here. Iāve learned so much. Iāve experienced a lot. Iāve made mistakes, asked a million questions, and somehow survived it all. š And Iāve been incredibly lucky to have people around me who are always willing to help. I can ask a question and get an answer without ever being made to feel stupid. They vibe with my vibe, they let me be me, and somehow all of those personalities come together to make what is Bonita Beauty Salon.
So, thank you, Jessica and Courtney, for taking a chance on me and letting me join yāall. And thank you, Lilly, for making the salon even better.
One year down, and Iām so excited to see whatās next. š¤
