Funding Available. The National Academy of Arbitrators’ Research and Education Foundation (REF) is announcing the availability of funding for new research proposals aimed at advancing knowledge in labor and employment arbitration and related fields. The REF supports studies and the publication of educational materials on grievance procedures, arbitration processes, labor and employment dispute resolution methods, and related topics. In addition to research, the REF funds educational materials and programs that meet the REF’s purposes for practitioners and students of dispute resolution. Applications undergo a detailed review and vetting process, and applicants are typically notified of results within 90-120 days of applying. Further information about the application process and eligibility requirements are available at https://naarb.org/how-to-apply-for-a-grant/. To inform potential grant applicants of the types of grants that have been approved, the REF has a History of Grants on our webpage: https://naarb.org/projects.

On Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 6 pm PT on Zoom, the NCRP Program will hear from Ms. Yvette Durazo, one of our distinguished NCRP-CSUDH alumna, discussing tips and strategies for smart negotiation. In particular, she will discuss her latest book which provides strategies and skills for women in negotiation in a variety of contexts, including the workplace and in higher education. Ms. Durazo is nationally recognized for her work, both as a trainer and practitioner. I particularly like her focus on health and her holistic approach to negotiation. Since her graduation from the NCRP Program, she has worked in a number of high-profile positions in our field. We are very fortunate to welcome back Yvette Durazo to CSUDH for this lively NCRP presentation. Please feel free to invite friends, colleagues, and students.

For folks interested in ethical and effective leadership, CSUDH Negotiation, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding is pleased to announce that Carl Sharperson will be joining us next week to talk about leadership and effective negotiation in the contemporary world.

Carl is an amazing man. He has advised and trained elite athletes, managers, administrators, and political leaders. He is widely viewed as doing some of the best work in leadership in the US at this time. Most of his work has focused on leadership in Corporate America, but his most recent book focuses on leadership within the family.

We are very grateful that Carl is willing to join us for the evening, on Wednesday, September 17 at 6 pm on Zoom. NCRP is also grateful to Ambassador Steve Rhodes who will be facilitating the evening's discussion, starting sharply at 6 pm.
