A career in policing has a lot of ups and downs. Tends to change your perception on a lot of things. That’s not always negative though. One of the things that the job definitely changed for me from all my years on nights is the enjoyment of the new day. That time where it’s quiet and people are just starting to come out. Knowing that in merely a few hours, the landscape will be totally changed and filled with people and activity, the time feels like a secret, like it’s just for you. That has definitely translated into my personal life and it’s a time that I really enjoy. What’s something in your job that has changed how you do or perceive something?

Some people have charcuterie out, some beverages, some snacks. At a 2 Ginger house you get a sunscreen bar. Open for sponsorships and collabs.

A smaller gun doesn’t have to mean smaller capabilities. With a reduced circumference, shorter reach to the trigger and lesser slide manipulation force the PDP-F still retains the capacity, trigger, ergonomics and shootability that you know and love from the compact and full size PDP.

SWAT school all week this week. Got the opportunity today to throw a suit and tie on and attend the staff and command graduation for some of my guys. Fitting to throw these cuff links on on national peace officers Memorial Day. I think everyone at some point in their career should attend Police week in DC, maybe twice. If you’re going more than that, and your concern is more what time the FOP tent opens and where everybody’s meeting for drinks maybe it’s time to assess whether you’re the best cop you could possibly be and spend your time and money this week in a different fashion some years. I don’t normally make posts like this, but as I approach 20 years on the job in July and reflect on where I’m at, I’m the most capable I’ve ever been. If you progress in time in your career and you’re not, you have the opportunity to change that starting today. It just takes some self reflection and honest assessment. There will always be ups and downs in life and in your career, but if you’re not constantly trying to figure out how to get back up, you’re doing yourself and the people you are pretending to be at police week for a disservice. Honor the fallen by being about it.
