Weekly Superintendent Update

This morning, two campuses were placed on lockdown as a precaution due to a suspicious person reported near the schools.

The Carlsbad Police Department responded immediately and quickly secured the surrounding area. Both campuses are safe, and normal school operations have resumed.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our law enforcement partners for their rapid response, as well as to our building administrators and staff for acting quickly and implementing district safety protocols. Their preparedness and professionalism helped ensure the safety of our students and staff.

Thank you, ExxonMobil Permian, for donating 800 bags of school supplies for our teachers and hundreds of additional backpacks and supplies for our students!

As we welcome students and teachers back to the classroom, we are grateful for ExxonMobil's continued support of education across our district. Together, we are helping ensure classrooms are equipped for a successful and rewarding school year.

🔒 Clear Bag Policy for District Events

The safety and security of our students, families, staff, and community members remain a top priority. As part of our ongoing efforts to provide a safe and welcoming environment at district events, we are implementing a Clear Bag Policy for all public events, including graduations, athletic events, and other district activities.

The Clear Bag Policy will help improve the safety and efficiency of entry into our facilities by allowing security personnel to more easily inspect permitted items.

✅ Approved bags include:

Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags (maximum 12" x 12" x 6")
One-gallon clear freezer bags
Small clutch bags (4.5" x 6.5" or smaller)

🚫 Backpacks, non-clear purses, camera bags, mesh bags, briefcases, luggage, and other non-permitted bags will not be allowed.

All permitted bags and individuals may be subject to security screening upon arrival. Medically necessary items and diaper bags are permitted but will be screened. Outside food and drinks are also prohibited.

We appreciate the cooperation and support of our families and community as we implement these additional security measures. Working together, we can help ensure our district events remain safe, enjoyable, and welcoming for everyone.
