It's important to understand that. Because something is recyclable does not mean that it is recycled.

New York Post reports on Beyond Plastics’ Starbucks plastic cups “recycling” investigation, where we tracked 69 single-use plastic cups from Starbucks’ in-store recycling bins, and not one was confirmed to be recycled.

We’re now hosting demonstrations at 22 Starbucks stores across 11 states, calling on the world’s largest coffee chain to ditch the plastic.

In NY, we’re also urging elected officials to pass state legislation to address corporate plastic waste and protect environmental justice communities through the The Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act (S1464-A/A149-A), which would require companies like Starbucks to reduce their plastic packaging and reimburse municipalities for waste management costs. Starbucks previously lobbied against the bill.
