This Spring, we had the absolute pleasure of presenting the Horace Fleming Scholarship — an award that honors not only academic achievement but resilience, leadership, and vision for the future — to Arrington Ward Jr.!

Like Coach Fleming, Arrington is a leader, a doer, and someone who shows up—for his team, his school, and his community. He embodies the spirit of this scholarship. He is known for being a powerhouse both in the classroom and on the football field. He maintained a stellar GPA while balancing AP courses, team leadership, and a community service resume that would make most adults feel like they need to step it up.

This is the first week of classes at North Carolina A&T State University where Arrington plans to study Business Administration, with plans to one day open his own food establishment. This is someone who sees food not just as fuel—but as connection, culture, and love. His passion started early, helping in the kitchen with his family, and now he’s cooking up a future that blends community, creativity, and entrepreneurship.

We plan to be at his restaurant's opening day, and we hope you join us in celebrating and supporting Arrington Ward Jr.!
