Maiden Cove Children's Center

We were so fortunate to have members of the Cape Elizabeth Fire and Rescue Department take time to visit Maiden Cove. We learned about the equipment they use to keep themselves safe and fight fires. We also received an inside peek of one of the fire trucks and medical truck. We are grateful for their dedication and commitment to keeping our community safe.

Earth Day is every Day!! Opportunities to care for our neighborhood, plants, trees and creatures in nature are abundant throughout the year and go hand in hand in Early childhood education.

We are so honored to be a part of the educational journey of every child that is in our school. We love what we do and can’t thank families enough to entrust their children into our care.

This is how children learn confidence, collaboration, body awareness, properties of ice, creative thinking and problem solving, just to name a few. We believe strongly that children have the innate ability to create learning experiences and we are there to help foster, support and scaffold their ideas.

We tapped our maple trees at Maiden Cove this week and the sap is flowing!! We love this tradition!🍁
This is just one of the activities that we do throughout the year that builds up our respect, care and knowledge about trees. Through observation, experiments and art we foster education that is meaningful to the child’s life.

There was no better way to wrap up our Animals in Winter inquiry with a Hibernation Party! We made blanket forts and were cozy inside with our stuffies, books, flashlights and candles. And our answer is, “a unique masterpiece that is infused with their own creativity and ideas, fueled with decision making about which materials and items to use, negotiated with fellow artists about sharing the resources in front them and infused with their joy and pride that comes from creating!”

Did you know we offer a unique program for our oldest learners at Maiden Cove? Travelogue is an afternoon enrichment program offered to students enrolled in 5+. They spend the year traveling around the world learning about different countries and cultures through crafts, stories, games, music and food. They are currently in China 🇨🇳 just in time for the Chinese’s New Year!🧧🐍🥠
