Fairy Tale Fridays are Back! We know the importance of reading aloud to children. It builds vocabulary as well as listening & reading comprehension skills.

We are EXHILARATED to share this fairy tale that is a cute spin-off of “Little Red Riding Hood.

“Little Red Riding Sheep” is about a young sheep named Arnold who is excited about being in his first book.

Enjoy!📚

Lit-on-the-Lawn Week #1

Forty-five first, second & third grade students from the Future Promise and Southeast Center Camps, beat the heat and led the way to
Lit-on-the-Lawn Elementary School on Tuesday! A great time was had by all in attendance! Thank you to United Way of Greater Stark County for funding this literacy initiative!

A BIG “Shout-Out” to yesterday’s Lit-on-the-Lawn’s guest reader…
Tori Fontes! Tori is a former Twenty Under 40 honoree! She definitely captivated the attention of our listeners by reading, “Deonna Dares to Dance,”written by Canton’s own DeLores Pressley.

Tori also shared information with the children about her career as unit manager for the Ohio Department of Youth Services and as Founder and CEO of Future Promise.

She received a standing ovation just like Deonna did in the story!

Thank you Tori and thank you to United Way of Greater Stark County!

Lit-on-the-Lawn was seriously “lit” with 45 students in 80 degree temperatures yesterday! On behalf of our funder, United Way of Greater Stark County, Leila Green A.B.S.E. was able to Kick-Off our Lit-on-the-Lawn Literacy Initiative to help prevent summer reading slide and provide new culturally relevant books for children.

Students enjoyed listening to our guest reader, interacting and doing basketball drills with Coach G and the Lady Pups from Canton McKinley, discussing our vocabulary word of the day (exhilarating) enjoying healthy snacks…especially the cold, icy ones and of course selecting their very own book.

Week #1 of Reading Fun is in the Books
