🌺 Happy Varamahālakṣmī 🌺
“Usually, this pūjā is done with the intent of getting something - more wealth, boons of this or that... It’s all fine but that approach misses the point entirely.
Mahālakṣmī isn’t the “goddess of wealth,” who’s going to fill up our coffers because we do a pūjā once a year!
She is Śrī, the throb of auspiciousness in every experience, arising as the splendor of the Divine in this limited time-space quantum. Think about it - she’s right here in this moment as you’re reading this - she IS this!
Your ability to read, comprehend, speak, laugh, make decisions, cry, regret, judge and fail - she is all this. Reducing her to money is one of the worst transgressions we can make. Transgression because we can never know her true splendor when we limit her!
What must we ask for as vara or boon on this auspicious day?
Give me the eyes to see you, Devi!
Give me a mind that can be still,
A heart that can open
An intellect that can slice through
The Maya that you create!
Give me hands that worship you
In every little thing I do
Give me feet that sing in gratitude
For every step I take
Give me speech that is sweet
Because it speaks only to you
Give me the knowledge of beauty
In everything I think and do
Take everything else away
That keeps me from knowing you
Make me want you
You and only you!”
