This Weekend's Event Details:
We got something NEW for YOU! The LIGHT House is offering three workshops this weekend directed toward mindfulness and mental health that were super excited to offer for the very first time. If you're experienced with mindfulness techniques or never been introduced, this will provide a new experience for anyone who's interested. The events are as follows:
Mindfulness and Self Care in the Modern World - Friday April 12th - 5-6:30pm
In the busy-ness of the modern world it is more essential that ever to make time for self care, and to address all aspects of life with a sensitive and mindful awareness in the physical, emotional, spiritual, and professional realms. In this class you will learn methods to calm the mind and emotions, awaken your instinctual awareness, and create a healthy balance for your body, mind, and soul.
Mindfulness and Nature Connection - Friday April 12th - 7-8:30pm
The more mindful you become the deeper your connection to the natural world and all things living will grow. This holistic awareness changes how you move through the forest, how you think and act. You become sensitive to the calls of the birds and the breath of the wind as it whispers through the trees. Your mind grows quiet. The Earth speaks. You hear her voice not with your ears, but with your heart. Learn to awaken this ancient form of nature connection and awareness.
Coal Burning Bowls and Spoons - Sunday April 14th - 11am-3pm
Gather round the fire and make bowls and spoons primitively with hot coals, your breath, and some TLC. Craft useful and beautiful utensils, and learn how to make these implements without modern tools. Though if you have a good knife please bring it to expedite the process of carving. Carving with rocks can be a slow process. Take home what you make and use it for dinner, or your next camping trip.
These events will all be held Birdsfoot Farm in Canton, just a short 10 minute drive from campus, and led by Len Mackey, one of our local community members. Furthermore, Len has offered these events to the surrounding community, so there may even be some little kiddos in your presence as well. The events will be mostly held outside (yay nature!) and thus good footwear (maybe some boots, probably not heels, but take your own risks) , rainjacket/layers, and water are important to have along with your EXCITEMENT of course. Transportation will be provided to and from the LIGHT House for all three events. We will be departing 15 minutes prior to each event, and more details will be sent to each attending group tomorrow.
There are 25 spaces for each of the three events, so please reply to [[email protected]] (tell me which one you want to do) quickly and get yourself a fill up on all that good mind stuff you were hoping for.
Oh and did I mention they're all free? Free like turbo tax… free, free free free
Peace & Luv,
