Another adventure checked off the summer bucket list!

This week, Willie made his way to the iconic dome atop Henderson Hall for a breathtaking view of the Hill.

Along the way, he learned a fun piece of C-SC history: Henderson Hall has actually had three different domes since 1904. The original was completed with the building, a second was added in 1960 after a summer storm damaged the first, and the current dome was installed in 2003 following a tornado.

What will Willie do next? Stay tuned as he continues checking off his summer bucket list!

Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Chelsey Morrow | Mathematics Department

For Chelsey Morrow, her path to mathematics began during her junior and senior years of high school when she discovered a love for calculus through AP math classes. "I had no idea what I wanted to do. Then I started taking calculus and really enjoyed it."

In college, she initially pursued actuarial science before discovering her passion for mathematics and switching to a general math degree.

Originally from St. Charles, Missouri, Chelsey and her husband were living in North Dakota while she attended graduate school. When a position opened at Culver-Stockton College, it offered the perfect opportunity to return closer to family.

At C-SC, Chelsey teaches a variety of mathematics courses, with Differential Equations and Linear Algebra among her favorites. "Differential Equations is the first class where students really get to see how calculus is useful and applied." Her biggest piece of advice for students: "It is okay to make mistakes, and that is how you learn." She also encourages students to ask questions, even the ones they think are "dumb".

Math is like life. You have to just dig in and get a hold on it."

Outside of the classroom, Chelsey enjoys spending time with her daughters, reading, puzzles, logic games, crafting, scrapbooking, and exercising whenever she can. A fun fact, Italy is at the top of her travel bucket list but not for the sightseeing, for the food.

Chelsey believes faculty help shape campus culture by building meaningful relationships with students and supporting them both academically and personally: "We are able to offer support not just in academics, but in their personal lives as well."
